Oh the power in just this question. Someone in the Church life recently asked me at bible study, “If I asked the Lord to make me a living overcomer wouldn’t He make me a living overcomer!”

When he asked me the question, I couldn’t even answer the question. Because I knew that the Lord would make me a living overcomer.

Why did this question bring so much fear to me? Have you ever heard someone say, “Be careful what you ask for because you might just get.” I knew that if I said yes Lord make me an overcomer he would make me one. I knew that He would be faithful in doing this. Later while driving home, completely wrecked in a beautiful way the Lord exposed my unhealthy love for this World. My fear of losing it. This World has failed everyone that has touched it. And this World personally showed me it’s fallen and it has nothing for me.

The Lord said we must love Him more: 

The Lord through dear Believers and God’s word showed me how this World is death and God is calling me out of this World into His marvelous light. All I needed to do is say yes! Once the Lord showed Me my love for the World and how my love for it leads me and has led me straight to destruction, that alone made it so easy for me to say, “Lord make me an overcomer!”

Once I did that the Lord began to show me how being an overcomer is something He intended for us all to be in His Son.  Not only was this God’s intention but it’s his desire. Let me show you where it says this in His Word.

“These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 The Lord has overcome the World so it only makes since that we should overcome the World sense we are believers and have His life within us.

“‘He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches To him who overcomes, to him I will give some of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, and a new name written on the stone which no one knows but he who receives it.‘” Rev 2:17

“For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world–our faith. Who is the one who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?” 1 John 5:4-5 

“Let us be glad and rejoice, and let us give honor to him. For the time has come for the wedding feast of the Lamb, and his bride has prepared herself.” Rev 19:7 The bride here is the overcomers/ Also the reality of the 5 bridesmaids who were prepared in Matt 25:1-13

Choosing to be a living overcomer today is different than just being a Believer of Jesus today in this age. The overcomer in this age aka age turner goes against the World in this age while choosing to be a living overcomer in this age. The believer who chooses to befriend the World will be perfected later in the next age. So eventually ALL believers will be overcomers! The living overcomer in this age made a decision to allow the Lord to make them an living overcomer of the World in every aspect of their life before the Lord returns. The living overcomer chose/chooses Jesus over the World in this age. The overcomer surrender(s)(ed) their life to the Lord Jesus and he helped them become an overcomer in this age, this can not be done in ourselves! To be an living overcomer in this age the Lord truly becomes our everything in this age. Eventually all believers will be overcomers after the next age!

The Church life plays such an important part in us becoming overcomers because their going on in the Lord serves as an empowerment and encouragement to keep us going on in the Lord. And we are One with them as the Bible tells us He who is joined to the Lord is one spirit. 1 Corinthians 6:17 May we practice the Oneness because this serves as a perfecting factor in our personal life. Being that the Lord wants to Build His Church the Oneness is crucial to being an overcomer as well! The perfecting process starts now! I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one–as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me. John 17:21

Daily we can enjoy the Lord as our life. In enjoying the Lord as our Life, He becomes our life. In becoming our life we are being transformed. In being transformed in Christ we are constantly building God’s church because we are In Christ. In being transformed through Him we overcome this World daily and eventually totally. The moment we notice that we aren’t in Christ we should repent to restore the uninterrupted fellowship and flow with God and enjoyment of Life so we can continue growing in Christ and being built into Christ’s beautiful body aka the Church! One thing we should openly admit is we are not always in Christ. He is always in us but we are not always in Him. “… And may they be in us” John 17:21.  In knowing this it helps us to be aware to the fact we may not always be in Him and to check ourselves. This is something I’m learning myself but if you are ever in doubt just say Lord Jesus. “We can only say Jesus is Lord in the Holy Spirit” 1 Corinthians 12:3. Actually calling His name should be part of our daily activities. Calling His name turns our hearts and being to the Lord. This should be our daily practice being in Him. Being in Him we spontaneously overcome. Lol Enjoying the riches of Christ by being In Christ causes us to overcome this World. Letting Him be our ruler, by guiding us as we are respecting and loving Him as Lord. What a beautiful design! This is to overcome daily to be In Christ at all times! This is to be a living overcomer.
