Have you ever found yourself running away hopelessly?

IMG_3826

I tried to run from the calling of God on my life, and destroy the anointing while traveling to foreign countries. Satan was happy to help me out. And God allowed it because He knew He would get the Glory!

I found myself fed up with the way my physical life was going (my spiritual life and growth was great). My physical life was giving me a headache. I was fired from 4 jobs in the past 2 years and those last 4 jobs, co workers lied on me causing me to completely shut down and crawl into my shell. My light was totally dimmed. I couldn’t handle another attack in Corporate America. I couldn’t handle one more lie, deceit, or backstabbing. I couldn’t handle giving my all to a job and finding out that I’m unappreciated and hearing those words, “We’ve decided to let you go” one more time. I couldn’t handle adopting a negative attitude because the environment I was in would NOT let me be great. I thought to myself “Okay ‘Miss Can’t get right’ let’s go travel the World”. And I did just that. I rented out my apartment for 1 month and traveled to Mexico and Belize and got in the “belly of the whale” aka UA’s airplane. I found myself indulging in the ways of my old life. I tried just about everything in the song “Cranes in the Sky” by Solange. I found myself partaking in death by enjoying the things of this World more than enjoying My King who died to set a free from the very thing I was binding myself to.

The very thing that had me once in chains and at the alter singing at the top of my lungs, “break every chain” by Jesus Culture, I willingly chained myself to it… again. There is where I experienced Grace and Mercy at its fullness. I had an extra dose of it in that season.

As I arrived in “the belly of the whale” I found myself walking straight back into my calling. I found myself trying to fight it away and run it away but it kept finding me. As I spontaneously began to pour out Christ from my speaking and being, I knew that I would never get away. And I believe I began to embrace Christ even in that dark season I was in. I continued to love Him and spend time with Him. I found His Love to be MORE potent in that season- of course His Love is always the same but I found myself in plenty of undeserving situations where I KNEW I didn’t deserve His Love, mercy, grace or His presence. Jesus didn’t withhold anything from me in this season. In this season where I tried to “Cranes in the Sky” it away, away, away By Solange Knowles.

IMG_3824

Consciencely I didn’t know all of this was going on until I looked back at how I lived through this season. Unconsciencely I tried to run a way from the calling of God! Consciensely I went away. Consciencely I thought it was the hurt from being fired 4 times, and the pain America’s hurting people I wanted to run from. It was so much pain and still is so much pain in this World and I “just knew” My answer was in traveling and escaping the US of A! Boy, was I ever so wrong!

I found my answer in Jesus upon my return. On 6/23/17 I took my relationship with Jesus to a new level as I chose to ask the Lord to make me a living overcomer. The most liberating decision I made was to surrender completely to Jesus. Clearly the day I decided to follow Jesus on May 6, 2009 I picked up some old habits again and I needed to “run to the Cross, run to the Cross” by rapper KB Fokus (voice of the youth). I found myself purposely running to the cross each day and my life began to overflow with peace and the abundant life. I am still running to the cross daily and resting in the arms of my Savior while enjoying/experiencing decreasing and allowing Him to increase within me.

I found purpose in my efforts of trying to run away. I found purpose in the spiritual attacks I received in Corporate America. I found out that no matter the situation or circumstances God would get the glory and what the enemy meant for harm God would truly turn it around for my good (Gen 50:20).  I found out that I am truly called by God and there is no where I can hide from Him. I found out that even when I run I’ll find out that my answer always runs with me. My answer’s name is Jesus and His promises are true! I found out that no matter how much I try to ________ it away, I’ll always be able to find my answers in Jesus!

I’m so very thankful for that season because literally I feel like I’m walking on water now. Sure I have ups and downs like all people but I’ve definitely made a purposeful decision to keep Jesus in the boat with me as I travel through these human life experiences. So instead of _______ing it away, I Christ it away lol and it seems to be working. I come to Christ and lay my burdens at His feet like He has always said I (We) could do! Matt 11:28.

Well I hoped you enjoyed my transparent testimony as I totally exposed my entire life in this post.

If you have never made the decision to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior and want to, feel free to ask your local pastor or believer. Or you can PM me on social media. Or you can pray right now. Lord Jesus I believe you love me with an everlasting love. I believe you came into the World to die for my sins and forgive my sins. Please come live in me and  dine with me. I choose you to be my Lord and Savior! In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

The Bible says, “anyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved” Romans 10:13. Please share with a believer if this is your first time to pray that prayer! And please feel free to let me know by leaving a comment!

Morning Devo- Perfect paradise By Sherry Thorpe

IMG_2501

I have been blessed with the opportunity to travel to some pretty amazing places and I’ve made the decision that My favorite created place to visit so far is Belize.

Belize is a country located in Central America and oh yea, it’s an English speaking country. The people are influenced by the carribean and Britain. Feel free to browse my other blogs about Belize. You Betta Belize it!

I love Belize because it’s so natural and authentic country! The food is fresh and the People aren’t trying to impress you with the things they own or the things that they posses that hides their true face. Those people are genuine, down to Earth, and super duper authentic. They seemed to be calmer, more relaxed, less stressed than people I usually meet in the USA. These people were transparent in their speaking and their actions. Silence only occurred when you took time to think or enjoy your surroundings. There’s so much Natural beauty around that it’s hard to ever forget the creator. I’m so surrounded by man made things here in the US that if I look away and get distracted I think more about the man/woman that created the thing rather than the Creator Himself.

Thats the created place on Earth that I love the most! However the best place that I have discovered  is in Christ. To me this is a physical place where I feel protected, all of my shame and failures are addressed and gone. All of my pain is comforted away. The Perfect One who knows me in and out, how I operate, and  what I need lives in Me. I have the opportunity every morning and throughout the day to choose to be in Him, In His presence, and conversing with Him. Jesus is my paradise on Earth.

I have tasted Jesus and I’ve felt alive so I can confess that He is the bread of Life and He is good for food like His word proclaims in John 6:35. I have tasted this Bread of Life and I can confirm that He is good. Since I’ve tasted and seen that God is good the choice that I have to make is do I want to be with Him forever. Does my living reflect this choice? Does my daily decisions reflect where I want to go?

It’s ok to fall, but it’s not ok to stay down. The Lord Himself will come and get us when we fall because He is the faithful Shepard but it’s our choice to get back up again. It’s ok to be in the process of being perfected and it’s ok for us nkt to practically perfect that’s what forgiveness and mercy is for. The Lord is merciful but His mercy is not to be abused or misused. Paul warns us in Romans 6:1-2 “What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?” Romans 8:37 We are to be more than conquerors through Christ who strengthens us to get back up and endure In Christ to the end. To the Lord returns to us. Failure will come because we still have our fallen flesh but we are to “submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” James 4:7 We want to resist the Devil in order to be In paradise experiencing our wonderful Christ as Life. We have to remember that Christ is better than anything that this World has to offer us. He is our perfect place to travel to In the Spirit our very own Universe to travel to. It’s our escape zone, our safety net, our secret place, our healing factory, our renewing zone, and our transformation place.

So what should we do to remain IN CHRIST? Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness… Matt 6:33 (this is not to seek first “The American Dream” And guess what? When we seek Him first He ALONE gives us the desires of our heart. Psalm 37:4 Take delight in Him first and YOU WANT BE DISAPPOINTED. You can delight yourself In Him anywhere at work, at school, in the restroom, in the kitchen, at home, at a friend’s house etc.. The Lord has given us total access to Him wherever we are we can say Lord Jesus and enter into this Beautiful paradise!

Have you experienced the perfect paradise?

If you have never made the decision to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior and want to, feel free to ask your local pastor or believer. Or you can PM me on social media.

Morning Devo- Those who endure to the end… By Sherry Thorpe

In February of this year I decided to take a trip to Honolulu, Hawaii. I was not disappointed with my visit, Hawaii has everything. Hawaii has the ocean, volcanoes, hiking trails, scenic views, and much more. Hawaii was simply beautiful.

While in Hawaii I decided to hike up Diamond Head. Diamond Head is Volcanic tuff cone and is a state monument in Hawaii. I woke up before the sun rose that morning ( I read in blogs that its a good place to see the sunrise). I caught the bus to Diamond Head from Wakiki Beach (about a 10 min ride) and I believe I paid $1 or $2 to enter (By car you have to pay to park). I started the journey in the DARK (picture below) and when I say it was dark I had to use my phone’s flashlight just to see the path that I was walking. I met a man on the journey and we began to walk together. I actually felt safer and I am glad that he was there.

IMG_1014

Do you see the fear in my eyes? Lol

I WAS TIRED! This was a 1.5 to 2 hour hike round trip and I am not a person who hikes at ALL. Half way through I wanted to quit but the journey back to my hostel wasn’t worth giving up since I had already started the hike.  I called on the Lord a lot. I began thinking why did I sign myself up for this, I am so out of shape. I was tired and hot thinking to myself surely seeing the sunrise after this is not even worth the journey. Feeling defeated I began to take charge and just focus my thoughts on getting to the top, because there was no need for me to complain about taking the journey since I had already began it. I started to see more people on the hike and they provided unspoken encouragement as they continued on the path and didn’t turn around to quit and return home. A determination came over me and I wanted to make it to the top. I wanted to be at the top of the Diamond Head.

Hiking the Diamond head is similar to my walk as a Christian. I started this journey in Christ in 2009 and while I was walking I’ve had days where I wanted to give up and throw in the towel. I started to think but I’ve worked too hard. I’ve suffered too much and sacrificed a lot. It made so much sense to continue the mission appointed to me In Christ. Even my tired days I continued on because I wanted to reach the top. I strategically planned my days to be around the Saints just to receive energy to continue on.  I wanted to hear the words “Well done“- Matt 25:21. Thankfully even when I didn’t want to carry on the Lord’s angels ushered me into God’s presence to give me strength to endure. A desire to endure to the end increased well within my being. And soon again I wanted to be at the table where the Lord serves His people. I wanted to meet my God face to face. No matter how much sweat or tears I suffer(ed) through now, I believe it will be worth it, more worth it than my view at the top of the Diamond Head.

IMG_1042

The Top❤️

Are you determined to endure to the end? The bible says, “But the one who endures to the end will be saved.” Wait I am already saved right? Yes if you have confessed that Jesus is Lord and have been baptized you have received eternal life and you have been saved from the World’s power. Now the journey includes you to choose Christ every day of your life making Him Lord of everything in your life. This is enduring to the end! Choosing Christ even to our very last breathe. Don’t worry if you fail that is what grace, mercy, love, and forgiveness is for. If you fall just don’t stay down. You may lose some battles but remember IN Christ we are more than conquerors. Romans 8:37 YOU can make it to the very TOP in Christ if only you would just believe and place your faith in the Great I AM. I once heard “Your going on is my going on” there is an unspoken encouragement when I see other believers continuing there journey in Christ determined to endure to the end.

Morning Devo- Do you think it’s ok to call a person a dog?

Do y’all think it’s ok to refer to a person as a dog?

No? Yes? Depends?

Well what if you’re God, like then would it be ok?

Check out where Jesus referred to a woman as a dog in the Bible:

Matthew 15:22-28

Leaving that place, Jesus withdrew to the region of Tyre and Sidon.

Canaanite woman: “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me! My daughter is suffering terribly from demon-possession.”

Jesus did not answer a word.

So his disciples came to him and urged him, “Send her away, for she keeps crying out after us.”

24 Jesus answered: “I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel.”

25 Canaanite Woman: “Lord, help me!”

26 Jesus replied: “It is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to their dogs.”

27 “Yes, Lord,” she said, “but even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters’ table.”

28 Then Jesus answered: “Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted.” And her daughter was healed from that very hour.

Now PLEASE don’t think I’m trying to disrespect Jesus, because I love Him, but that was rude. Lol He referred to that woman as a dog. Now which one of y’all can do that and have the person still ask again for what she needs?

I admire her persistency and ability to humble herself and lower herself to the level of a dog, agree with Jesus, and not take offense. #BeHumble

And the Lord blessed her by answering her request to get her daughter healed and commended her on her faith! #ThisIsOurLord #FirstThingsFirst

I also appreciated how the Lord was so available to this “dog”. Like the woman just called out to Him. Not only was He available to the “dog” but He answered her request.

Well the great thing about being a Christian today is that we have that same access to Jesus today. Actually we have a better access because  He lives inside of His believers.

If you are not a believer and want to become one the Bible says that “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” Romans 10:13 The beginning to salvation is to accept the Lord and one way to do that is to call/say Lord Jesus. If you have any questions ask some local believers or drop a comment.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my blog. I hope you enjoyed it and seized the opportunity to talk to Jesus.

What did you get from the Bible passage?

Viva la Mexico en Cancun

IMG_1961

Well Cancun was a breathe of fresh air.

Between having multiple clear water beaches to choose from and great tacos what more could a woman like me ask for?

Flights: I flew United (no I was not removed from the plane) however I did volunteer my seat so I could get a free flight voucher in an amount up to $200 for a future date. The plane was not that full so I was able to get on the flight. I paid $124 one way to Cancun and $25 for a checked bag (flying with a carry on $0.00 will work just fine, I had a huge suitcase because I was traveling to Belize from Cancun by bus)

Cancun International Airport: Uber is not allowed to come into the Airport’s property however Uber did not let us know this. The airport representative let us know. You can use one of the taxis or rent a car from the airport or of course use a shuttle if you are staying in one of those beautiful Cancun resorts.

Transportation: Taxis are pretty easy to use just brush up on your espanol because not every taxi driver knows English or even a little English. The bus transportation system runs 24 hours a day

Pillow Time: This was my first time using Air BNB and I wasn’t disappointed. I paid $14/night  for a one bedroom studio apartment. It was small but just the right size for me. I met some girls who used AIR BNB and stayed in a lovely condo for $56/night and it had an juccuzzi on the roof. Both places were extremely clean. If you choose to use Air BNB for a future travel date feel free to click here to create an account and receive $40 off any stay $75.00 or more (this must be the first time you create the account with Air BNB by using my link in order to get the discount).

IMG_2130

$56/ per room- Some travel mates stayed at this condo

Here is the picture of the Studio where I stayed:

IMG_2714

This studio was like a small hotel room. $14/night for the entire apartment. Cable, wifi, clean up included in cost

Food: I ate a lot of tacos, beans and rice lol. Go figure! Food is super cheap in Cancun. Try some of the more authentic Mom and Pop places for really good Mexican food.

Currency: The currency exchange rate can change based off of where you exchange your money. For example I saw the exchange rate at a bank for 18 pesos to 1 USD and then somewhere else it was 17 pesos to 1 USD. So just be aware, also you can download this app XE Currency so you can keep up with different currency exchange rates. This app actually helped me because some of the Mexicans we encountered tried to rip us off when we paid with US dollars, the change that was provided in pesos was off by a lot. I strongly encourage you to pay in pesos or download the app if paying in USD to ensure you get the correct change.

img_2715.png

Tours: I did 2 snorkeling tours, visited Tulum and Isla Mujeres and Playa del Carmen. I purchased a waterproof case for my iPhone and I could take pictures and videos underwater.

Isla Mujeres (Island of women) is a beautiful Island. The water was nice and chilly for the hot summer days. We did a snorkeling tour from this island for $25 USD and it included lunch. The tour guides sell tours on the island so just negotiate the price if you feel it’s too high. There is plenty for you to do to stay occupied on this island. I took a short ferry boat ride from Cancun to the island for $19 usd or $300 pesos.

Ventura Park: This is a water park that has a couple of water slides, zip lining, roller coaster ride, food included, and dolphin adventures (for an extra cost). I paid 24/pp for this park and it was worth it. I paid $11 for a tube and $10 for a locker for my personal items.  Ventura Park web page

The Island of Aloha aka Hawaii

IMG_0668

Wakiki Beach

Honolulu is truly a beautiful paradise! I will definitely try to go there at least once a year!

The plane ride from Dallas was 8 hours, this was my first flight over 6 hours. Hawaii has it all from beaches to hiking, volcanoes, great food, and a Walmart lol.

A few interesting facts about Hawaii:

  1. Hawaii has many islands (over 100) and 8 main islands-  Niʻihau, Kauaʻi, Oʻahu, Molokaʻi, Lānaʻi, Kahoʻolawe, Maui, and the Island of Hawaiʻi aka Big Island
  2. Honolulu is the capitol of HI and its located on O’ahu island. IMG_1897
  3. Hawaii is the only US state that is not located in the Americas and is located in Oceania.
  4. ALOHA means hello and if you extend the oooo it means I love you for example Alooooooooooha❤️
  5. Moana is from there lol

Flight- Depending on where you are flying from it may be a long flight so be sure to stay hydrated being the the air is thinner in the skies! The flight attendants came around twice with drinks and each time I would ask for a cup of ice water and a separate cup of ice. I would suck on the ice to keep me hydrated.

IMG_0664

Jetlag– Jetlag is a sleep disorder one might get due to traveling from one time zone to the next. Umm however I never adjusted to Hawaii’s time zone which was 5 hours before Dallas, TX, USA😂. I would be up at 5 O’clock in the morning planning my day and in bed by 8pm lol.

Transportation– Honolulu has a very cconsistent bus system so I did not rent a car. If you ride the bus ask for a transfer ticket, the ticket allows an extra trip on the bus as long as it is with the time frame on the ticket ( I believe it’s 2 or maybe 4 hours)

Pillowtime: I stayed in a hostel in Wakiki (the tourist part of the city) for about $35/night. The Hostel was called Wakiki Beach hostel click here. It literally took me 2 minutes to walk to the beach! I stayed in a mixed dorm with men and woman (no children were allowed in my dorm). The dorm had a shared refrigerator, stove, microwave and 3 separate locker to store your things. This hostel served breakfast (peanut butter and jelly sandwiches) lol yummy! And yes I ate it. There were a few commotions in our dorm with one of our dorm mates he was high on drugs. Also the hostel next to us a couple got into a heated argument. This experience was definitely different then my first hostel experience which was really peaceful. Despite the negativity I would still stay there again. Also room service came by and cleaned the bathroom.

Tours- I was visiting Hawaii for a Church conference so the tour was already planned  with a believer who happened to be a tour guide. The tour I chose was the island tour. It consist of hopping in and out of the van while driving around the entire island (which can literally be done in one day). The full day tour cost $95 includes hotel/hostel pick up, lunch/snacks were provided, visit to a macadamia nut farm, Doles’s pineapple plantation, 2 beaches and a tour around O’ahu island!

Here are some photos from the tour:

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

The first day I toured with the Church group and the second day I toured the city by myself. I visted Pearl Harbor traveling there by bus and went to Wakiki Beach (2 min from the hostel).

Pearl Harbor Historic sites- The museum did not have a main entrance fee. There is an entrance fee if you would like to go on one of the ships (Maybe it was ship/boat? Not sure). However you can save your money and do a free tour and take a short boat ride to the USS Arizona Memorial.

Wakiki Beach is a tourist beach and it was extremely packed with people. The North Shore beach is better if you want to avoid the crowds.

Food: The funny thing about me going to the Dole’s plantation is that I did not eat/taste one pineapple, I know shameful lol. I did however travel to a shrimp plantation and the shrimp was so good, fresh, and tasty. The farm is called Fumis shrimp farm.

Thank you so much for taking the time read my blog. I hope you enjoyed it.

You Betta Belize it!

IMG_1896Personally I believe there is nothing like the Caribbean. Between the weather, beaches, food, and locals accents, I just fall crazy in love with their culture.

I had an amazing time in Belize City. Just a couple of things – Belize is not an island and it is the only English primary speaking country in Central America which is different from its neighbors whose primary language is Spanish!
