Have you ever felt like you were taking 2 steps foward only to end up 5 steps backwards?

Have you ever felt like you were moving ahead only to be knocked back to the starting line? Some people say that they feel like they are taking 2 steps forward to take 5 steps backwards. Well I’ve had this mindset too many times to count.

One day I had a very long talk with the Lord and I believe God directed me to the story of Joseph in Genesis 37 to 47. Joseph was a son of Jacob aka Israel. Joseph had 11 brothers and he was also his Father’s favorite. One day Joseph had a dream about him being a ruler; he shared that dream with his family. Joseph brothers already despised him due to their father’s favoritism toward Joseph and that dream caused them to dislike him even more; so they plotted to kill him. SIDE NOTE: The Bible has so much drama and action I just love it. Okay back to the regular schedule. The brothers plotted against Joseph, it turned from ‘let us kill him to let us sell him into slavery.’ They decided to go with the latter so Joseph was a salve in Egypt. Joseph rose to a position as managing Potiphar’s (his master) house. One day Potiphar’s wife tries to take Joseph’s goodies and Joseph wasn’t having it and he fled. Potiphar’s wife lied and said Joseph tried to take her therefore Joseph was thrown into jail. Sounds like 2 steps foward and 5 steps backwards right?

Joseph had a turn of position in jail as well as he rose to leadership once again. Ultimately He was released from jail and became 2nd in command to Pharoah ( basically He was acting as Pharaoh) ruling the land! Talk about dreams coming true, right?

Many times we are given a vision or dream from God and I think we believe it’s supposed to promptly happen with no suffering, hardships, or set backs. If we look at successful people even in our day and age, they had sufferings, set backs for days/weeks/months/years. One would think our setbacks aren’t part of our plan but what if it was all part of God’s plan? What if even our mistakes and struggles are taken into consideration before we are given the dream or the vision? God may give the promise but usually he leaves out the little details.

3B2C3855-EAD6-40C8-B87A-A8507934439E

Every person on this Earth will endure some sort of hardship. The poor and the rich, famous and the unknown, children and adults, believers and unbelievers. Since we are believers we must remember that God will absolutely use all things to work for our good (Romans 8:28). I believe Joseph’s journey prepared him and built good character within him for his role as leader of Egypt. If we take time to look over our life we can see where our life experiences have prepared us for where we are. Don’t get too comfortable though, we are still on the journey of a lifetime and things will change; we will rise to new levels and we may have setbacks along the way before we arrive at our dream. We can all rejoice no matter the situation because we know that God is well aware of every situation we have, are in and will encounter. Our mission is to trust the King. Trust that God has the entire World in his hands and that nothing will come against us that God himself isn’t prepared to handle or to have us handle. We are his children and God takes care of his own… perfectly!

So yes it may appear that we are taking 2 steps foward only to take 5 steps backwards but in reality it’s a preparation for the next level of life. Every experience is needed for the very fine details of our life. We as believers are in the unique position to not be in the dark about hardships and set backs. We know that it’s all part of God’s plan. So lift your head up Child of God, if you feel as if you’re in the 5 steps back season be encouraged you will not be there forever, it’s only an intricate season that’s needed for growth. All things work together for our good and that is #GodsPlan because He orders our steps💜

When was your last revelation concerning Christ?

IMG_3990

Today I worked both of my jobs in Downtown Dallas, Texas, USA. Thankfully I had about a 3 hour and 30 minute break. I’ve been exhausted from my shifts and to add to everything I’m moving!

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27.

I’ve heard scriptures about the peace from God but I’m not sure if I’ve acknowledged that this is something I’ve received from God or even thanked Him for for giving me peace. Right now I am going through a pretty hard season in the physical realm but spiritually I feel as if I’m walking on water!

What does any of this have to do with a bicycle, Sherry?! Well I’m glad you guided me back to that lol. Yesterday as I was riding a bicycle in Downtown Dallas, Texas, USA, I had so much peace as I let the breeze caress my face. I felt like a kid with endless positive possibilities. I began to reminisce on my first time riding a bicycle and how I taught myself. I started with just one training wheel (borrowing a neighbors bike) and then as I kept riding (almost all day) the other training wheel fell off and I was on my own. I was riding the bicycle with no training wheels! And I thought about my life with Christ, no one taught me about how a relationship with Christ should look like. I just loved Him and He loved me back. I just knew that I wanted a relationship full of love and here was a person willing to give it to me.

My relationship with Christ started much like my experience with riding that bicycle for the first time, I just hopped on the bike and tried something and it seemed to be working. Now I’m sure everyone’s first bicycle experience didn’t happened like mine but what I do know is that you at least just tried it out and eventually got the hang of it. Now it had been a while since I rode a bike and yesterday riding the bicycle was a skill I did not lose, the saying is true, “Its like riding a bike.” That saying refers to something that is second nature and is something so easy it’s hard to forget.

IMG_3982

My relationship with Christ is just like riding a bike it was so natural (second nature) for me to treat Him like a person because that’s how He was introduced to me. I’ve never thought of Him as this far away God because He never felt far away. Jesus is truly my best friend and I talk about anything with Him. Having a relationship with Christ is so easy. I found out quickly that being obedient to God is easy as well, when you enjoy someone’s presence it’s kind of hard to offend them because you don’t want to hurt them. I enjoy God and He blesses me with His presence and as I am enjoying Him spontaneously things that I struggle with are no longer a concern and making the right choices become so easy because I’m doing life with Christ.

Is your relationship something that’s so second nature or do you feel the need to have to conjure up something to be able to talk with Him, pray, sing/dance with Him?! I want to challenge you to treat the Lord like the person He is and I’m telling you that YOU won’t be disappointed. He is truly the best person on Earth- Just taste and see!

This revelation of how easy life with Christ is came while I was riding a bicycle. Christ is immeasurable hence you will never have enough revealations of who He is. Almost everyday I have a revelation of Christ. When I am expecting to see Him in some form or fashion I receive revelations from somethings someone says or does, something I see or do, or some man made thing in this World. The Lord is all over the place and He is waiting to reveal Himself to you. My prayer is that your spiritual eyes would be open so you could see how wonderful and magnificent our God is!

If you have never made the decision to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior and want to, feel free to ask your local pastor or believer. Or you can PM me on social media. Or you can pray right now. Lord Jesus I believe you love me with an everlasting love. I believe you came into the World to die for my sins and forgive my sins. Please come live in me and  dine with me. Have you ever found yourself running away hopelessly?

IMG_3826

I tried to run from the calling of God on my life, and destroy the anointing while traveling to foreign countries. Satan was happy to help me out. And God allowed it because He knew He would get the Glory!

I found myself fed up with the way my physical life was going (my spiritual life and growth was great). My physical life was giving me a headache. I was fired from 4 jobs in the past 2 years and those last 4 jobs, co workers lied on me causing me to completely shut down and crawl into my shell. My light was totally dimmed. I couldn’t handle another attack in Corporate America. I couldn’t handle one more lie, deceit, or backstabbing. I couldn’t handle giving my all to a job and finding out that I’m unappreciated and hearing those words, “We’ve decided to let you go” one more time. I couldn’t handle adopting a negative attitude because the environment I was in would NOT let me be great. I thought to myself “Okay ‘Miss Can’t get right’ let’s go travel the World”. And I did just that. I rented out my apartment for 1 month and traveled to Mexico and Belize and got in the “belly of the whale” aka UA’s airplane. I found myself indulging in the ways of my old life. I tried just about everything in the song “Cranes in the Sky” by Solange. I found myself partaking in death by enjoying the things of this World more than enjoying My King who died to set a free from the very thing I was binding myself to.

The very thing that had me once in chains and at the alter singing at the top of my lungs, “break every chain” by Jesus Culture, I willingly chained myself to it… again. There is where I experienced Grace and Mercy at its fullness. I had an extra dose of it in that season.

As I arrived in “the belly of the whale” I found myself walking straight back into my calling. I found myself trying to fight it away and run it away but it kept finding me. As I spontaneously began to pour out Christ from my speaking and being, I knew that I would never get away. And I believe I began to embrace Christ even in that dark season I was in. I continued to love Him and spend time with Him. I found His Love to be MORE potent in that season- of course His Love is always the same but I found myself in plenty of undeserving situations where I KNEW I didn’t deserve His Love, mercy, grace or His presence. Jesus didn’t withhold anything from me in this season. In this season where I tried to “Cranes in the Sky” it away, away, away By Solange Knowles.

IMG_3824

Consciencely I didn’t know all of this was going on until I looked back at how I lived through this season. Unconsciencely I tried to run a way from the calling of God! Consciensely I went away. Consciencely I thought it was the hurt from being fired 4 times, and the pain America’s hurting people I wanted to run from. It was so much pain and still is so much pain in this World and I “just knew” My answer was in traveling and escaping the US of A! Boy, was I ever so wrong!

I found my answer in Jesus upon my return. On 6/23/17 I took my relationship with Jesus to a new level as I chose to ask the Lord to make me a living overcomer. The most liberating decision I made was to surrender completely to Jesus. Clearly the day I decided to follow Jesus on May 6, 2009 I picked up some old habits again and I needed to “run to the Cross, run to the Cross” by rapper KB Fokus (voice of the youth). I found myself purposely running to the cross each day and my life began to overflow with peace and the abundant life. I am still running to the cross daily and resting in the arms of my Savior while enjoying/experiencing decreasing and allowing Him to increase within me.

I found purpose in my efforts of trying to run away. I found purpose in the spiritual attacks I received in Corporate America. I found out that no matter the situation or circumstances God would get the glory and what the enemy meant for harm God would truly turn it around for my good (Gen 50:20).  I found out that I am truly called by God and there is no where I can hide from Him. I found out that even when I run I’ll find out that my answer always runs with me. My answer’s name is Jesus and His promises are true! I found out that no matter how much I try to ________ it away, I’ll always be able to find my answers in Jesus!

I’m so very thankful for that season because literally I feel like I’m walking on water now. Sure I have ups and downs like all people but I’ve definitely made a purposeful decision to keep Jesus in the boat with me as I travel through these human life experiences. So instead of _______ing it away, I Christ it away lol and it seems to be working. I come to Christ and lay my burdens at His feet like He has always said I (We) could do! Matt 11:28.

Well I hoped you enjoyed my transparent testimony as I totally exposed my entire life in this post.

“I ‘posed to eat’ says almost 2 years old- Kaylin

IMG_3487

I was scrolling through posts on FB and I came across one of my old co worker’s post and she shares this about her daughter:

IMG_3490

I was extremely impressed with the fact that this child and like all children know how to express their need to eat! Kaylin is almost 2 years old and she says “I posed to eat”. Her little tummy was letting her know she “posed to eat”. I thought it was funny when I first read the post but then reality crept in real quick. Lord am I aware when I need to eat? Sure I’m grown so when I’m hungry. I know what those hunger pains feel like but what happens when I’m spiritually hungry, I am aware?

I had a Pastor one time that had an entire series called “Eat that book”. Well let me back up.

1. Do we know that we can get spiritually hungry?

2. Do we know the signs for when we are spiritually hungry?

3. Do we know where to get our spiritual food?

4. Do we know how to eat spiritual food?

Question #1 yes we can get spiritually hungry and thirsty. In fact if we are not careful we will feed ourselves something of this World that will NEVER be able to satisfy our souls!

In John 6:51 Jesus said, “I am the living Bread.”

In Rev 7:16They will never again be hungry or thirsty;”

Question #2 Just Like we have signs in our physical body that tells us it’s time to eat and drink, we have signs that tell us it’s time to eat and drink Jesus. We may become easily frustrated/angered, unmotivated, not wanting to Love people or ourselves. Have you ever just been so filled with the Holy Spirit You just want to LOVE everyone. This is God’s heart that we will be filled to overflow and flowing Him out on this dying World.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.Romans 15:13

Question #3 The answer is simple. Jesus is our supplier.

I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.” John 6:51

Jesus says “but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.John 4:14

That means when we touch the Lord through His Word, His presence, singing, praising, talking about Him etc we will feel spiritually fed and our thirst will be quenched.

Question #4 When we touch the Lord through reading the Bible, making music to Him, dancing for Him, Living for Him, serving His people, Living Christ out, Worshipping Him, the supply is in us touching Him, allowing the Holy Spirit to flow through us, and receiving the things of God.

IMG_3780

We “posed to eat” that living bread that nourishes us! Have you eaten lately?! Thank you so much for reading my blog post I hope it encourage you to get your eat on. Taste and see that the Lord is good! Psalm 34:8 Our God is tasty!

Are you a sheep who knows our Shepherd’s voice?

IMG_3715

Recently I heard a message from Priscilla Shirer a Pastor here from Dallas, TX, USA. And she nailed this message about knowing God’s voice. She thoroughly educated us about sheep and their Shepherd and how the the good shepherds would study and spend a lot of time getting to know their 100 sheep!!! They would KNOW them and could tell them apart from other sheep, how awesome is that?! Several shepherds would place their sheep in the same “holding station/ pen station” while they would possibly go in to town to rest. A gatekeeper would stay and literally be the gate and lay down blocking the entrance and exit while waiting for the shepherds to return for their sheep. Upon the shepherd’s return he would call out for his sheep, AND JUST THEIR SHEEP would come, because they knew their shepherd’s voice! It becomes even more amazing, a shepherd could alter their voice and call just one sheep out of the one hundred and that one particular sheep would come!

This amazed me because had I not been educated on sheep, I’m not sure I could relate as much as I am relating and enjoying the scripture, “I am the Good Shepherd I know my own and my own know Me.” John 10:14. With the World’s situation and as many voices that are being spoken from so many different platforms it’s good to know our Shepherd’s voice. Actually let me back up, I had  a guy once tell me that “He would believe in God if God would speak to him but God isn’t speaking!” The truth is – God is speaking and either we are listening, or we aren’t listening or we are hearing His voice and taking credit for what He is saying”.

So agreed, God is speaking! We need to be those who spend time with our Shepherd getting to know Him, listening to His voice and actually obeying it and following only Him. The God of this universe is speaking to you and wants you to actually listen. God speaks to deaf people. They may not can hear a physical sound from the Earth or our mouths but God speaks directly to our hearts, His voice comes from within and from without. The Bible says in Matt 24:4,5,11

IMG_3717

There’s a guy in Miami right now claiming to be the Messiah and he has many followers! You can’t be deceived if you know Our Shepherd’s voice!

“The change in time has not changed the Shepherd’s desire to get to know us, but if we are not careful the change in time will change our desire to get to know Him” – Priscilla Shirer

When a world has decided that they have no need of God, We The Church will take a stand and say ALL WE NEED IS GOD! We will get to know our Shepherd’s ways, thoughts, and His voice. We will not be deceived because we know His voice. And guess what the Shepherd knows us too. We are not a stranger to Him. He knows us and we know Him. Hallelujah we know our Shepherd’s voice and He leads us gracefully! He speaks, we hear, He leads, we follow, He is the Shepherd, we are the sheep, He knows us and we know Him. What a God we have?!

The Way is not limited to a path, He is a person and His name is Jesus!

IMG_3570

So many times I hear Jesus being limited to a path we should take. In one sense of course this is true. This blog post is not to disclaim this truth but to shine light on how “The Way” is so much bigger than a path we should take.

In John 14:6 NLT “Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” There is only one way to God and Jesus is the key! Here is where we see Jesus to be one path to one destination. Okay so Jesus gives me access to the Holy God so when will we ever need “The Way” again? I’m so glad you’ve asked that question! Everyday we have choices set before us and as we enjoy Jesus as Life aka “The Way” We spontaneously choose “the Life Way”. In Deuteronomy 30:19-20 God says this:

IMG_3571

When we are in Jesus (the matter of position) we are enjoying Him as our Life and we spontaneously choose “The Way” which is always the perfect Way, always the right path, always choosing blessing! Now if we are honest with ourselves, we know sometimes in our life we do not choose Life, we choose death by being in the flesh and making “fleshly” desire decisions. We may choose death in the way we choose to react when someone is rude to us by responding in a way that Christ would not want us to respond; However on the flip side God has a plan for when we are operating out of our flesh which leads to death and it’s this scripture:

img_3572.png

So when we make bad choices aka flesh decisions, God works turns those decisions to work out for our good. When the enemy has a plan to kill, steal and destroy us- God works that out for our good! How wonderful is this?! This is why we should worry, because even against all odds we come out in top walking on water because God is absolutely for us winning! In fact the Bible says we are MORE THAN CONQUERORS IN CHRIST! (Romans 8:37).

The more we exercise ourselves to purposely focus on Christ, the more we will spontaneously choose Life. Earlier this week I was in a small car accident. A young girl was speeding, weaving in and out of traffic and hit my car. She was frantic when we stopped our cars to exchange information and was extremely hype and in a calm tone (which is absolutely NOT normal for me) I responded to her and she became humble! How was this? Who calmed this storm? I was enjoying Jesus as my Life by singing to Him in the car right before the accident and He was so present during this entire matter (as He is in all of our lives).

IMG_3574

I was able to befriend this young woman and tell her a little bit about the Lord and how she should value her life and not be so reckless driving as it could it end very badly for her. Now this was absolutely Christ operating in me as my life because this is just something I wouldn’t do. So it isn’t a matter of thinking of “WWJD” aka “What would Jesus do” and doing it but letting Him operate in you and flow out of you as Life and afterwards your response will be “Oh that’s what Jesus would do!” Jesus was always reaching people no matter the situation. Jesus is “The Way” to reach people. He is always the answer! (John 3:30). The more we spend time with Jesus by reading the Bible, singing to Him, praying, listening to hmHis voice etc.., the more we began to walk and talk like Him. We must be intentional in our relationship with Christ, because that’s what you do when you are in a relationship. If we truly decrease and let Him increase then He can operate in us and God’s will WILL BE DONE and we will have heaven on Earth. (Matt 6:10) So choose “The Way” today and all day by enjoying Christ as your Life and keeping your focus on Him All day!

Back to the basics- I want You Christ and real Faith!

IMG_3513

Recently, well today, I had a friend ask me what did God show me on 6/23/17? I’ve been telling people- friends, family and believers, that the Lord has recently woke me up.

6/23/17 I was awakened! Before “my awakening” I didn’t even know I was sleep. I didn’t even know that Believers could be sleep. I mean I was loving the Lord, I was somewhat following the Lord, I was in the Church meetings! How could I be sleep?

I was unbothered when I heard about girls living in sex slavery, children in MY VERY OWN  CITY cutting themselves, people on drugs, and prostitutes selling their souls!

But God woke me up. And I love Him differently. I love His people differently. I love my enemies differently. People’s pain affect me. I find myself weeping more because it. I find myself praying more. I find myself DYING to selfishness. I find myself saying Lord use me. And really meaning it!

This is what the Lord has been showing me since 6/23/17. I pray it blesses you, encourages you and empowers you to find your identity in Christ and to walk in Christ enjoying Him as your life!

6/23 The AWAKENING Choose to be a living overcomer! Aka “To live victoriously Daily”

6/24 thru TODAY The Lord has showed me- I was allowing myself to be a defeated Christian  by choosing to love the World, indulging in the pleasures of my flesh, seeking my own will above God’s will.

QUICKLY after 6/23 He began to bring me back to the basics, coming o Him first, believing in Him, Trusting in Him. Allowing Him to take the lead basically letting Him be God and not becoming god myself!

SLOWLY after 6/23 He began to show me my purpose, pull this purpose out of me causing me to seek Him like I’ve never sought Him before. Causing me to love Him and others like I’ve never done before. Causing me to want to die to myself/ decrease so He can increase! Helping me find my identity in Him

SURELY giving me the confidence to walk in Him boldly and use my gifts to bring Him glory while inspiring a generation to do the same

THANKFUL– I’m so very thankful He would wake me up to be alive in the age and apart of the generation and God’s plan to cooperate with the Holy Spirit to build His Church aka His beautiful Bride!

TAKE AWAY – Jesus overcame the World! And now the overcoming One lives in US! We should be spontaneously overcoming enemy, our flesh, and any obstacle meant to destroy us. As we enjoy Jesus as life we spontaneously overcome. THIS HAS BEEN MY EXPERIENCE since 6/23/17❤️

Would you choose to be a living overcomer?

If you have never made the decision to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior and want to, feel free to ask your local pastor or believer. Or you can PM me on social media. Or you can pray right now.
