Are you in position? By Sherry Thorpe

IMG_2994

Have you heard the saying, “Dress for the position you want”? This saying refers to if you are going after a job, don’t dress for the position you believe you are qualified for or that entry level position; Dress for that position that you desire to have. I want to add be prepared for the position check out my view on the preparation aka process for the position we want.

For the longest time I felt left out of having a “dream”. I would dibble and dabble in this and that as a Christian and while still being in the Church life but I felt like the Lord Himself was not leading me in what I was intending to do for Him. I literally had the experience similar to the guys that was casting out demons in Jesus name but the Lord said, “départ from me I never knew you.” Matt 7:21-23. I felt like I was doing God’s work but He wasn’t leading me. Before we get super defensive and deep about “my feeling” I believe that we can jump too soon into where/what the Lord is calling us to do/be and complete the mission in ourselves rather than completing it in Him and that was my experience. The good thing is anything that benefits the Kingdom of God still builds the Kingdom no matter who does it. A non believer could talk about the Bible and a believer like myself could still be touched (I’ve had this experience). Anywho I wanted the Lord’s leading and support in whatever I do. The experience is just different and better in Him.

Hmmm who in the Bible could relate to doing things and not being led by God at first. MOSES!

Moses was raised with the best teaching. He wasn’t birth into the position to receive the best teaching and up bringing however he was divinely placed in the position to be raised by  Pharoh’s daughter. You can call Moses “education and upbringing” that he received in Pharoah’s kingdom “the best that money could buy.” However the Lord did not use the unprocessed, non transformed Moses to lead the Hebrews out of slavery did he? In fact Moses tried to jump to his calling by defending a Hebrew man by killing the oppressor. Hmmm but certainly this was not the Lord’s leading. So Moses ran. He ran away to hide but was placed into a position to be processed by God and transformed.

What I’ve noticed is that the Lord has stragically placed us in the families we are born in. The color of our skin and our gender, our gifts/talents, careers all purposely given by God. We ALL were “born for such a time as this” Esters 4:4. Moses was placed in the hands of Pharoah’s daughter to be taught by the best to stand against the best. With God’s leading the prossesed Moses was able to lead God’s people out of slavery and into the Promise Land.

What I’ve noticed is we all have gifts. We could be a Beyoncé or a Kim Walker. Both have gifts but one has been processed and humbled by God himself and the other well #nocomment! The process is beautiful! And the great thing is the Lord doesn’t take our gifts and store them away, NOOOOO he processes us, renews our mind, transforms us on the inside which is reflected on the outside. The gifts are returned to be used In Christ. This process can and will continue to happen only in Him. Please don’t think once you are operating in your calling that time with the Lord stops. Nooooo if you needed him before the process and during the process, you will certainly need Him after the process. In fact WE ARE STILL in the process as believers. Moses didn’t get to enter the Promise Land because the Lord had to still deal with him. Although Moses had been processed the transformation process was not complete. Perfection is the standard (Matt 5:48) so since we have not reached perfection common sense should tell us we better stay in the process. We should continue to put in intentional time with God so we can be ready when Jesus returns. We don’t want to be like the 5 foolish bridesmaids who weren’t prepared. We want complete access to the wedding and the feast, Don’t you? We want to hear, “Look the bride has made herself ready.” Rev 19:7.

The good thing about being in the process is it is quite simple, we should be seeking God and His Kingdom (Matt 6:33) and God himself will complete the good work he started in us. Phil 1:6. Hallelujah Jesus will complete the WORK!!! Yes I should be touching Christ and eating Him as my daily bread by reading His word, singing to Him, praying etc.. but this is so enjoyable. Even when the Lord shines His light on my icky, evil areas in myself, it’s good for me because it is perfecting me. It may hurt my feelings but it’s for my good. Constructive criticism is good isn’t it? How much more is it good for the Lord to shine His light on us so that we may be exposed of our icky parts so that we may depart from these things. THIS IS TRANSFORMATION. THIS IS THE PROCESS. And we should love it! We should enjoy it. Just enjoy God and the process. Enjoy that position He has placed you in. Enjoy that sucky job especially if the Lord has placed you there. Enjoy the place God has divinely placed you because He is totally preparing you for the position He is going to place you in. The best way to enjoy sucky situations is to BE IN CHRIST. It’s like being in paradise in a hellish situation. Being In Christ causes chaotic places to be calm, hellish places to be heaven, death to be life.

Position yourself in Christ while doing your work and spontaneously He will give you the desires of your heart. Spontaneously you will get that position, spontaneously you will end up exactly in the position the Lord promised you!

If you have never made the decision to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior and want to, feel free to ask your local pastor or believer. Or you can PM me on social media.

The Depressed Christian By Sherry Thorpe

IMG_2984

What happens when you feel like joy has completely ran out? What happens when it’s hard to crack a smile? A smile is on my face but joy definitely isn’t in my heart in fact I’m actually hurting tremendously.

First let me say that I do NOT fake it with God, ever. He isn’t some Work corporation that says check your feelings at the door before coming into work. God knows the depths of our heart and the best part about this is, He is also the healer of our hearts. So whatever I am feeling I bring it to God FIRST, he created me so I’m sure He knows what needs to be fixed so I include him. And sometimes we just need to check our feelings because they might be from the Devil like worrying for example. The Bible strictly tells us not to worry Matt 6:25-35.

I’M STILL DEPRESSED!

Okay let’s address a few things

Are you living in sin, making a lifestyle of sinning? Be honest before God because your Pastor or even your bestie may not know what you do or what’s going on behind close doors but God knows. I remember struggling with a particular sin and I found myself trying to rid myself of it but I felt trapped in it. Not only did I feel trapped but I also felt comfort, so in some actuallity I really didn’t want to rid myself of it. I was honest before the Lord and I told him, “Lord I like this sin, but I know it’s bad for me, I know you are not blessing this so please help. Please help me turn from this sin.” And the Lord was faithful to deliver me from that sin of course I had to cooperate with Him by not putting myself in that situation to commit that sin. Sin can absolutely take us straight to a depression state of mind hence one of the reason God tells to not sin and to confess our sins. Despite what the World and Devil tries to tell us SIN slowly and sometimes quickly destroys our inner and outer being. Confession should be part of our lifestyle because we aren’t perfect. Let me clarify that choosing to LIVE in sin and oops I sinned are 2 different things.

Living in sin– I know I am sinning and I am okay with this and I am not trying to turn from my sin. I’ve convinced myself that this sin is ok because guess what everybody sins. (These are dangerous EVIL thoughts) Salvation includes being saved from Sin. So if Jesus is our savior He most definitely did not die for and as our sin, for us to continue indulging in sins after He saved us.

Naturally Sinning- Just going about your day by walking in the Light and you sin realizing your mistake and you are aware of it and you don’t make a habit of it. Instead you can/will confess your sins. We are sinners by nature so yes the Lord is renewing us but we have not been COMPLETELY PERFECTED yet so failures aka slip ups aka sins will come but we must NOT become a FAILURE  and a good practice is to not put yourself in a situation to sin. If your sin is doughnuts then don’t go to doughnut shops. Remember if you fail, confession is good for the soul❤️

The Lord’s light is there to shine on our darken areas and guide us. You may have confessed that Jesus is Lord and have been baptized and this is awesome, now you have received eternal life and eternal salvation that saves you from everything that’s not God. The reason light is needed is to keep us on the right path but to also show us areas that need cleaning or a doing a way with. Pride is one of the sins we really don’t talk too much about but it can destroy us causing unnecessary heartache. “I’m feeling myself” is not cool in the eyes of the Lord. What happened to the realization of WHO AM I God that you are mindful of me? We must remain humble before God and others. If the Lord shines light in a certain area remember confession is good for the soul. Confess, turn away from it and carry on with your life In Christ.

I found myself in a state of depression! Nothing was going according to my plans (submit your plans to the Lord – a blog for another day). It didn’t seem like the Lord was for me. Despite what I did I would take 2 steps forward and I would be knocked down and dragged 10 steps backwards. I felt like I would have a taste of success and despite what I did it wouldn’t fully succeed. So my soul became sadden and I faked a smile. I put on that Church “I’m blessed” attitude even though I didn’t feel blessed. Since I didn’t feel blessed my time with the Lord decreased. And actually I had a job that limited my time with Church gatherings (praying about job schedules and careers is so important but that’s a blog for another day). I found myself in need of fresh air. I found myself in need of a revival. I knew I needed a huge revival in my life. Don’t worry about quiting the job, leaving the relationship, or dropping the addiction, simply ask the Lord to shine the light on those situations and to help guide you. It’s ok to repeat this prayer before the Lord until those situations are dealt with. He dealt with those things in my life as I would pray and spend time with Him and the depression left. I had to come back to the Lord. Quite frankly I didn’t know I left and maybe I didn’t leave Him completely but I definitely limited my time with Him. But the Lord led me back to Him and slowly but surely my depression left.

Another thing that I felt like caused my depression was a comparison of my life according to America’s standard. This is DANGEROUS. America demands and expects a lot from us. But what does Jesus our King of kings demands? It’s quite simple “seek first the the kingdom of God and it’s righteousness and THEN all these things will be added to you” Matt 6:33. Simply pray Lord show me how I can seek you in my daily life. Praying, singing to Jesus, talking to Jesus, simply saying Lord Jesus has brought me so much peace and joy instantly.

Conforming to this World (in my observations) causes depression. You may not be trying to keep up with the Kardashians but are you trying to keep up with the Americans? YOU my friend are not of this World, you are just in it. This is our temporary home❤️ Why store up treasures here when thieves can break in to steal it? Matt 6:19. The Bible in Romans 12:2 commands us “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–his good, pleasing and perfect ” We must be renewed in our mind. The old mind aka old self is okay with the World’s low standards, okay with sinning, okay with pleasing people, okay with putting things before God, okay with having idols (FYI anything you put before God is an idol OUCH right?), okay with putting jobs/careers/people/school/knowledge of the Bible before God. Side noteDid you know that the Bible was not made for doctrine it was made so we could know God’s word and eat His words as our daily bread?

The Word aka Jesus is our daily bread. The Lord said we should pray this way:

IMG_2983

What’s being said in this prayer and how can we apply it in our daily life:

1. Thy will be done– His way, His will, He leads We follow! It’s His way or the highway honey!

2. Daily bread- Jesus is our bread, our daily nourishment, our supply to go on for the day, He is our life so don’t be surprised if you feel lifeless when you haven’t touched the life giver! Jesus is edible and you can eat Him in multiple ways by reading the Bible, saying Lord Jesus, writing/talking about/to Him, simply loving Him in whatever you do! THIS is taking Him in daily as our bread😌

3. Forgive us as we forgive- grudges are dangerous so just forgive and if you need help with forgiving others ask the Lord for help he is faithful to help you. Forgive yourself, yo we are jacked up and sometimes WE mess up, forgive yourself ITS OK! Ask others for forgiveness. Since we are not perfect, I’m sure along the way we might offend or hurt someone. So just seek forgiveness from them. Ask God for forgiveness, the Lord is just to forgive us 1 John 1:9. The Bible says, “as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.” Psalm 103:13 and He will forget our wickedness THIS IS PRETTY COOL “For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.” Hebrew 8:12

4. Lead us.. deliver us.. – Lead us not into temptation. Asking the Lord to lead you into a place that is not tempting um that’s great leadership Jesus❤️ But deliver us from EVIL. Just deliver us from any and all evil. Uh yeah I’ll take that! Deliver me from my unnatural love for “doughnuts”

The Lord Himself taught us that prayer so wouldn’t He be faithful to fulfill it as our God? This is part of believing into Him. Believing that He is capable to do the very things that He did in the Bible. And if He doesn’t do the things in the Bible we should be completely satisfied and okay with His decisions! (Depending on the situation sometimes mentioning it a couple of times is ok- Let the Lord lead you in this)

Lord bless me with me with a new car? Didn’t get it? Be ok with this saying Amen Lord.

Lord bless me with a spouse? Didn’t get it? Be ok with this saying Amen Lord.

It’s ok to be hopeful but I have made the decision to practice being satisfied with Jesus alone. This helps me to not be .. well depressed! The Lord is my Shepard I shall not want… Because when I’m in want and do not get it I’m either sad or mad.

Rest– I mean c’mon even God himself rested on the 7th day after creating the World. So if God rested I’m sure He intends on us taking a rest. Just chill. Sit down and rest. Be calm and rest.

Disclaimer: If you take MEDS for depression or an illness this post is not to say don’t take your MEDS. I am not a Doctor however I would strongly encourage you to ask the Lord and the Elderly believers about anything you inject into your body!

Take away: Simply taking the Lord as your daily bread and Life is the CURE for everything. ❤️🙌🏾😍

Have you accepted the cure as your Savior?

If you have never made the decision to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior and want to, feel free to ask your local pastor or believer. Or you can PM me on social media.

Belize, In the Spirit, Travel

Morning Devo- Perfect paradise By Sherry Thorpe

IMG_2501

I have been blessed with the opportunity to travel to some pretty amazing places and I’ve made the decision that My favorite created place to visit so far is Belize.

Belize is a country located in Central America and oh yea, it’s an English speaking country. The people are influenced by the carribean and Britain. Feel free to browse my other blogs about Belize. You Betta Belize it!

I love Belize because it’s so natural and authentic country! The food is fresh and the People aren’t trying to impress you with the things they own or the things that they posses that hides their true face. Those people are genuine, down to Earth, and super duper authentic. They seemed to be calmer, more relaxed, less stressed than people I usually meet in the USA. These people were transparent in their speaking and their actions. Silence only occurred when you took time to think or enjoy your surroundings. There’s so much Natural beauty around that it’s hard to ever forget the creator. I’m so surrounded by man made things here in the US that if I look away and get distracted I think more about the man/woman that created the thing rather than the Creator Himself.

Thats the created place on Earth that I love the most! However the best place that I have discovered  is in Christ. To me this is a physical place where I feel protected, all of my shame and failures are addressed and gone. All of my pain is comforted away. The Perfect One who knows me in and out, how I operate, and  what I need lives in Me. I have the opportunity every morning and throughout the day to choose to be in Him, In His presence, and conversing with Him. Jesus is my paradise on Earth.

I have tasted Jesus and I’ve felt alive so I can confess that He is the bread of Life and He is good for food like His word proclaims in John 6:35. I have tasted this Bread of Life and I can confirm that He is good. Since I’ve tasted and seen that God is good the choice that I have to make is do I want to be with Him forever. Does my living reflect this choice? Does my daily decisions reflect where I want to go?

It’s ok to fall, but it’s not ok to stay down. The Lord Himself will come and get us when we fall because He is the faithful Shepard but it’s our choice to get back up again. It’s ok to be in the process of being perfected and it’s ok for us nkt to practically perfect that’s what forgiveness and mercy is for. The Lord is merciful but His mercy is not to be abused or misused. Paul warns us in Romans 6:1-2 “What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?” Romans 8:37 We are to be more than conquerors through Christ who strengthens us to get back up and endure In Christ to the end. To the Lord returns to us. Failure will come because we still have our fallen flesh but we are to “submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” James 4:7 We want to resist the Devil in order to be In paradise experiencing our wonderful Christ as Life. We have to remember that Christ is better than anything that this World has to offer us. He is our perfect place to travel to In the Spirit our very own Universe to travel to. It’s our escape zone, our safety net, our secret place, our healing factory, our renewing zone, and our transformation place.

So what should we do to remain IN CHRIST? Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness… Matt 6:33 (this is not to seek first “The American Dream” And guess what? When we seek Him first He ALONE gives us the desires of our heart. Psalm 37:4 Take delight in Him first and YOU WANT BE DISAPPOINTED. You can delight yourself In Him anywhere at work, at school, in the restroom, in the kitchen, at home, at a friend’s house etc.. The Lord has given us total access to Him wherever we are we can say Lord Jesus and enter into this Beautiful paradise!

Have you experienced the perfect paradise?

If you have never made the decision to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior and want to, feel free to ask your local pastor or believer. Or you can PM me on social media.

Morning Devo- God loves us simply because He loves us. By Sherry Thorpe

IMG_2960I think this might be my fave blog yet and I haven’t even completed a sentence yet lol. Any blog, message, song, or speaking that refers to God’s love for the World just causes my heart to melt and to go deeper In Love with my Lord!

His Love is what every human seeks regardless if they know it or not. His love simply put is so amazing. His love is actually different than human’s love because the substance of “God is LOVE!” 1 John 4:8. The very thing that God is – is Love. This means if you were to cut God open LOVE would pour out! Isn’t that marvelous?!

Did you know that when Jesus walked the Earth He wasn’t this attractive person? Isaiah 53:2. He was a plain John type of man and something about Him still attracted people to Him. His Love is attractive! Drawing near to Him is so easy because everything within me desires Love. Deep within my being desires a perfect Love. God is perfect Love. True Love is God. The best Love is God. And guess what?! He never runs out of Love!!! Despite Him loving all of humanity I never feel short of His Love. I actually sometimes feel like Jesus loves only me lol I know this isn’t true but it is what I feel. That’s just how good and personal God’s love is.   That’s powerful.

Okay you get it now that God is Love BUT there’s more… He loves us so much he died for us. Maybe you’ve heard this so many times but have you meditated on this scripture lately, “For God so loved the World that he gave His only begotten son that who so ever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting Life.” John 3:16

The Lord gave His son for us. Would you give up your son for all of humanity? Umm I would NOT and I don’t even have kids. I would not give up my son for a people who were my enemies and for some who will remain enemies because they won’t believe in me. Did you forget that before you accepted this Love to be yours you were an enemy of God? The Bible says, “Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior.” Collosians 1:21 Jesus died for His enemies, you and me. If this isn’t love then what is it? Right now there are people in this World who doesn’t know God’s love personally. The best Love in the World that they have total access to, they don’t know anything about it. They don’t know perfect Love! This is why I write. This is why I speak. This is why I post. Because I want ALL people to know this Love! The manufactured human love doesn’t come close to God’s Love. Don’t you feel compelled to tell a dying, pleasure seeking, money chasing World that God loves them with a Perfect Love?!

His Love makes everything better. His love heals us. His love causes us to love. We love because He loved us first. 1 John 4:19. We can operate in this Love, live in this Love. This Love empowers us.

I remember before I got saved all of the terrible things I did because in reality I lacked His love. I remember being so desperate for love. And it wasn’t that my parents and family didn’t love me, it’s that for some reason it wasn’t enough. I needed a deeper love. A love that totally satisfied me and I found that in God!

Wait!!! It gets better! Nothing can separate YOU or ME from this perfect Love. Whaaaaaaaat? Nothing? YUP nothing. The Bible says, “And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow–not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love.” Roman 8:38 #ForeverInLove literally get it? Because God is love and I’m in Christ which makes me In Love❤️

In all of this Love, the Captain of Love wants to be loved back…. By YOU. My goodness. Lord Jesus I LOVE YOU! Thank you Lord for simply loving us.

Check out Graham Cooke’s message in God’s love❤️Click here

Have you experienced this Love for yourself?

Morning Devo- Lord, all I have is mustard seed sized faith. By Sherry Thorpe

IMG_2953

Dear Lord,

I am writing to you today to let you know I struggle in believing in what you can do sometimes. Please understand Lord Jesus I want to believe your words, but I think this World has damaged my belief. Or maybe it’s fear crippling my belief in you! Or maybe it’s the Devil attempting to steal my faith. I really don’t know Lord.

I am writing you to ask you for help! I want to believe in every single word that comes from you. So what must I do, how can I grow my faith? I’ve seen those that go before me, my friends, and family member’s faith, and it seems that they have big faith. But my faith is small. Like really small Lord. Like small as a mustard seed. How do I get the faith to walk on water like Peter, Lord? I mean I don’t really need to physically walk on water but in my life right now I feel like I’m in the boat and the opportunity is there for me to get out of the boat aka step out on faith and trust fully in you but I feel paralyzed!

Lord, I thank you for taking time to hear my prayer! I thank you that you want me to believe and humbly I come before your throne asking for help. I thank you Lord that you are faithful to help me in my request by pointing me to your word! I thank you that right now as I am typing you are bringing up scriptures planted in my heart to remind me of your words.

Answers in Scriptures: Lord, I thank you that your word says, “faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God” Romans 10:17. So I should place myself in a position to hear your Word. I thank you that you said in your word that if I have “faith as small as a mustard seed I can move mountains and nothing will be impossible for me” Matt 17:20. I thank you Lord that your word says, “you go before me and I should not be afraid.” Deut 31:8. In your word it says that “you are the Way!” John 14:6. In following You I am following the Way, well that’s cool.  Thank you for reminding me that “if you are for me who can be against me.” Romans 8:31. Thank you Lord for simply being for me. Thank you Lord for placing me in your Church that I may hear your good word and be built up into your body. Thank you Lord for placing me in a country where I have complete access to your message to the World anytime and anywhere. Thank you Lord for reminding me that just like Esther, “I was born for such a time as this.” Esthers 4:14. Despite what’s going on in the World, you stragically made sure that I would be this age, at this time, in this place, to spread your Word and be a testimony to all creation that you are good and merciful. Thank you Lord for letting me know “you will never leave me nor forsake me.” Hebrews 13:5. Thank you Lord for being the good Shepard that will leave the 99 sheep just to come and get little ole’ me. Lord thank you for being 100 percent faithful to your Word. I am grateful that you are the best promise keeper. Thank you Lord for sending me a helper, the Holy Spirit, to remind me your Word and help guide me.

Okay I get it now Lord when I am feeling low, I can just go to the Bible and read your word. I can also pray to you anytime I want to which is great. #UnlimitedAccess. I see that it’s actually good to already have scriptures planted in my heart for times like this. Even through this simple blog that I started to write reviewing these scriptures totally brought peace over me. I see that it is true that “Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Psalm 119:105

Hey Blog reader! Yeah YOU! Do you have faith as small as a mustard seed? Well I have good news, NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR YOU!

If you have never made the decision to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior and want to, feel free to ask your local pastor or believer. Or you can PM me on social media.

Morning Devo- Those who endure to the end… By Sherry Thorpe

In February of this year I decided to take a trip to Honolulu, Hawaii. I was not disappointed with my visit, Hawaii has everything. Hawaii has the ocean, volcanoes, hiking trails, scenic views, and much more. Hawaii was simply beautiful.

While in Hawaii I decided to hike up Diamond Head. Diamond Head is Volcanic tuff cone and is a state monument in Hawaii. I woke up before the sun rose that morning ( I read in blogs that its a good place to see the sunrise). I caught the bus to Diamond Head from Wakiki Beach (about a 10 min ride) and I believe I paid $1 or $2 to enter (By car you have to pay to park). I started the journey in the DARK (picture below) and when I say it was dark I had to use my phone’s flashlight just to see the path that I was walking. I met a man on the journey and we began to walk together. I actually felt safer and I am glad that he was there.

IMG_1014

Do you see the fear in my eyes? Lol

I WAS TIRED! This was a 1.5 to 2 hour hike round trip and I am not a person who hikes at ALL. Half way through I wanted to quit but the journey back to my hostel wasn’t worth giving up since I had already started the hike.  I called on the Lord a lot. I began thinking why did I sign myself up for this, I am so out of shape. I was tired and hot thinking to myself surely seeing the sunrise after this is not even worth the journey. Feeling defeated I began to take charge and just focus my thoughts on getting to the top, because there was no need for me to complain about taking the journey since I had already began it. I started to see more people on the hike and they provided unspoken encouragement as they continued on the path and didn’t turn around to quit and return home. A determination came over me and I wanted to make it to the top. I wanted to be at the top of the Diamond Head.

Hiking the Diamond head is similar to my walk as a Christian. I started this journey in Christ in 2009 and while I was walking I’ve had days where I wanted to give up and throw in the towel. I started to think but I’ve worked too hard. I’ve suffered too much and sacrificed a lot. It made so much sense to continue the mission appointed to me In Christ. Even my tired days I continued on because I wanted to reach the top. I strategically planned my days to be around the Saints just to receive energy to continue on.  I wanted to hear the words “Well done“- Matt 25:21. Thankfully even when I didn’t want to carry on the Lord’s angels ushered me into God’s presence to give me strength to endure. A desire to endure to the end increased well within my being. And soon again I wanted to be at the table where the Lord serves His people. I wanted to meet my God face to face. No matter how much sweat or tears I suffer(ed) through now, I believe it will be worth it, more worth it than my view at the top of the Diamond Head.

Are you determined to endure to the end? The bible says, “But the one who endures to the end will be saved.” Wait I am already saved right? Yes if you have confessed that Jesus is Lord and have been baptized you have received eternal life and you have been saved from the World’s power. Now the journey includes you to choose Christ every day of your life making Him Lord of everything in your life. This is enduring to the end! Choosing Christ even to our very last breathe. Don’t worry if you fail that is what grace, mercy, love, and forgiveness is for. If you fall just don’t stay down. You may lose some battles but remember IN Christ we are more than conquerors. Romans 8:37 YOU can make it to the very TOP in Christ if only you would just believe and place your faith in the Great I AM. I once heard “Your going on is my going on” there is an unspoken encouragement when I see other believers continuing there journey in Christ determined to endure to the end.

God is jealous for YOU! By Sherry Thorpe

IMG_2941

Did you know God is jealous for you? The Bible says that “You must worship no other gods, for the LORD, whose very name is Jealous, is a God who is jealous about his relationship with you.” Exodus 34:14

You must not worship no other gods! You must not make any idols!

You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.” Exodus 20:14

What does that mean when it says the Lord is jealous for us? It means that God wants you. Not a partial part of you but you wholly (fully). He wants and deserves FIRST place in your life. This means God becomes before your father, mother, siblings, grand parents, job, career, studies, dreams, money, cars, television, social media, school etc… These things if we are not careful can become our idols. So we must remain in the light where the Lord can expose our shortcomings and wash us clean of our unhealthy love/desire for idols. The Lord wants first place!

He is the only one who actually deserves first place because He thought about us all the way to the cross and even afterwards.

I have been bold enough to pray “Lord if it distracts me from you then take it from me or help me manage it better.” I’ve lost good paying jobs, good jobs with great benefits, nice people in my life and I look back and it’s because I slowly but surely began to place them and their needs, request, time before my God. I’m prone to wander off God’s path the Bible says in Isaiah 53:6 and He is merciful towards us but we must not test Him.

The Lord wants your attention so please don’t be shocked if things are taken away and don’t complain because our God who giveth also taketh (Job 1:21). If it’s taken it’s for our good and we are given the opportunity to turn our hearts to God and who knows the Lord might set you up like Job in the Bible – he lost everything and got so much more from the Lord in return. Job’s portion increased lol.

God wants and deserves and waits for you to give Him your attention. You can simply call His name to place your attention on Him. When you give Him your attention it’s actually the best position to be in. When your attention is on Him (when you give Him first place) you are in a secret place, you are in peace, you are comforted, you are washed clean, you are BLESSED!

God is not selfish, He WANTS to bless you. The Lord says, “If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!” Matt 7:11 The lord wants to give you gifts!

God wants ALL of you and He is not into settling. Thank the Lord for His mercy for the things we put before rather it be unconsciencely or purposely. We should thank the Lord for His mercy and also be soberly aware not to put things before Him. The Lord’s mercy endures forever and each morning His mercy is new. Lamentations 3:22-23

This is our God and He wants you. He wants to spend time with you. He wants you to know Him in a personal way. He wants you to love Him. He wants first place. He wants to bless you. He wants to protect you. He wants to comfort you. He wants to be YOUR GOD!

Morning Devo- We are the champions – By Sherry Thorpe

IMG_2936

Last night I had the opportunity to witness the Warriors vs Cavs game, and I must say it was a very interesting game. The last 2 games in the final are the only games I was truly tuned into. And I’m glad I watched those games!

Game 4 of the Finals: My observation as well as others observations the refs were clearly blind to many of the Cav’s faults, fouls, and back court errors lol. And yet the Warriors continued to give their all. Continued to behave as a team and support each other. Actually both teams did this. Well duh Sherry what are they suppose to do be against each other that’s not team work!

Side note: Are we supportive and cheering our brothers and sisters on In Christ? Are we cheering them on to continue their walk In Christ or are we calling them out when they foul. Sherry, Christians can’t foul.

Side note: Lets say a foul is when a Christian falls into sin, or says a scripture wrong or teaches something wrong, or says something wrong or writes something offensive on social media. Are they still our brothers/sisters in Christ? Shouldn’t we correct them In Love. How can the NBA created by men get this right but the Church, God’s prize possession, light of the world, get this wrong?

The endurance from the warriors despite their adversaries (the refs) continued to bring their all. I believe their very best was given in these games because they wanted a W. They wanted the title “Champs”. So much practice, blood, sweat, tears, pain, and much prayers went in to these games. I learned a lot In Christ from watching this game!

Dear Christians we already have the W aka Win. The Bible says, in Romans 8:37 “We are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” Wow! And sometimes we go crazy because this scripture isn’t ringing in our ears. It’s like we or others fail and we forget mercy waits for us, forgiveness never runs out and love covers a multitude of sins. We forget that Christ is perfecting us and will never leave us or forsake us. How can we lose when God is on our side. “If God is for us than who can be against us?” Romans 8:31 The demons can’t beat us. Satan can not defeat us. As long as we are In Him, we will not lose and if we fail we should get back up in Christ! Turn to the Lord, seek forgiveness, offer repentance from a pure heart and “the Lord is just to forgive us.” 1 John 1:9 We should encourage our team mates In Christ aka In Love.

Side note: One time Ayesha prepared confetti in her hand and after a loss for the warriors, she threw the confetti up in the air as her husband Steph Curry walked by with his head down. Cheering her husband on not only cheered her husband up but those were around out a smile on his team mates faces as well. Fast forward to last night that loss probably wasn’t on his mind or his team mates. They may have lost the game that one night but they won the war! Can you relate this experience to your Christian Life. You may lose here and there, you may fail here and there BUT DONT GIVE UP. In Christ WE WIN! “Even when the bad stuff happens the Lord is able to turn it around to work for our good for those who love the Lord” Romans 8:28 Do you love the Lord? Than even the bad things work out for your good!

What would happen if the Church operated in Christ like they have been called to do? What if we cheered each other with God’s word like we’ve been called to do. What if we corrected each other in love because we know we are all team mates in the Church. Each of us have been called to expand the Kingdom of God by building God’s Church while allowing the Lord to flow in us and out to others. We have One calling. We have one goal. We WIN In Christ. Let’s behave like team mates on and off the court. No matter what local church you belong to, if you believe in Christ you are a member of Jesus body aka The Church!

If you are experiencing good sportsmanship in your local church kudos, continue to enjoy Jesus as life. If you are not experiencing good sportsmanship pray to God and ask him what must I do?

Just a reminder if you are In Christ YOU WIN! Hallelujah for the win!

If you have never made the decision to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior and want to, feel free to ask your local pastor or believer. Or you can PM me on social media.

Morning Devo- What if you were sick and you didn’t know it? By Sherry Thorpe

img_2909.png

What if you were sick right now? Wouldn’t you do whatever needs to be done to be in good health?

I started this blog with the original audience being those that travel or enjoy reading travel blogs but through my visit to Hawaii, Mexico and Belize I discovered that being in Spirit is my favorite place. In Spirit aka In Christ is my favorite destination.

The only way to this destination is through Christ as he says in His word, “I am the truth, the way and the life” – John 14:6 and The says that “Anyone who calls on His name shall be saved.” Romans 10:13. That means if you call on Him you WILL be saved, no membership card needed, no need to make donation, no need to go feed the homeless. You call, you are saved! If the Lord leads you to do the above do so firmly In Christ!

I’ve recently discovered through conversations, listening to music and tv that people really don’t know how to find that place in Christ or they are pretending to be there and they are not or they’ve simply never been In Christ. My observation wasn’t just of unbelievers but believers too. How could a Christian enjoy any place other more than they enjoy being In Christ? Or how does one fake “Being In Christ?” It was shocking to me. It was also shocking that a lot of people couldn’t relate to my simple experiences in Christ, the feelings, the realizations, and the truth.

STOP FAKING! I’m begging you if you are faking, stop it. You don’t have to fake it. Screw what this World says about believers. Being in Christ is OUR safety place. It’s our secret spot. It’s our heaven on Earth. How can you fake being here In Spirit? And you really don’t have to fake it, just turn your focus to Jesus and tell Him I want to be In YOU (In Spirit). I want to worship you there! And He will place you there spontaneously! Call His name and it will take you to our secret place.

This is a no judgement zone but sometimes we need to be called out when we are faking it or simply deceived. I want you to know what is real. I want you to experience Him for yourself. I want Him to be your Life, your peace, your joy, your enjoyment!

But then I met a people who knew they weren’t perfect but had no idea that they were sick. I’ve actually met sick Christians who behave as if they don’t know Jesus is the healer.

The same Jesus you read about in the Bible is saying TRY ME! I will LIVE in you. I will guide you. I will be with you always. I will love you and take care of you. I will heal you. I will restore you. I will transform you. Behold I make all things new. I will make you NEW! I will give you a loving family (the church) to support you and build you up In Me. I will give YOU LIFE.

The problem lies in that some people think that once you’re saved that they no longer need any more saving. Yes on one hand we are saved, but we are also being saved RIGHT now and the Lord goes before us and will continue to save us from the Devil and His wicked schemes against us. Needing Jesus isn’t some need that just appears Sunday morning. This is an everyday dosage that’s needed. We NEED Jesus! E V E R Y D A Y!

• We are sick and need to be healed from loving ourselves, things and others MORE than God! #NoIdolsBeforeHim

• We are sick and need to be healed from being prideful, coveting our neighbors possessions, lying (little white lies too), deceiving, always being right, showing fake love, being fake, laziness, living in shame, murdering people in our hearts, backstabbing, chasing money/success/men/women/ etc…

• We are sick and need to be healed and washed from what we’ve said, what we’ve done, what we’ve heard, what we’ve seen etc…

Its ok if you can relate to any of those I’ve written about above. The Lord is waiting with open arms for you. He is a loving God. Be humble and come to Jesus by calling on His name Right where you are! The Lord is the best Doctor and his healing touch is the best cure… for everything!

The Lord said, “It is not the healthy that need a Doctor, it’s the sick. I have not come to call the righteous but the sinners to repentance.” – Luke 5:31-32 Be unashamed to admit you are sick and receive healing from my fave Doctor❤️

Morning Devo- I don’t feel like being a Christian anymore. By Sherry Thorpe

img_28791.jpg

Nothing is working. I haven’t changed. I can’t “feel” God anymore. Maybe He has left me because I’m too much of a sinner. I don’t want to be fake. I just want to live my life and be a good person, but I don’t want to be a Christian.

If you’ve accepted Christ in to you, you are a Christian and those feelings may or may not come. Feelings where it seems like everything is going wrong and you keep failing at things you are trying to do right! Hmm I wonder if anyone in the Bible can relate?

Paul begged the Lord 3 times to take “a suffering away” and the Lord simply replied with, “My Grace is enough, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Meaning you don’t need me to take “it” away from you, you just need my grace and it’s good to be weak and acknowledge it. When we admit we are weak, we allow the Lord to come in and His power is exposed in our Life. Indulge yourself in His grace- In the person of Christ and watch how those negative feelings will change. It’s something about being in the Person of Christ that takes us straight to paradise. This has been my experience! Regardless of the day I’ve had if I would simply turn my focus to Christ, the Lord is faithful to bless me with His peace and overwhelms me with His Love every single time.

When negative feelings like “I just want to throw the towel in” comes in to your mind, into your feelings just turn your focus completely to the Lord and watch how He strengthens you In Him.

” if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14

We may not see it as wicked but it is wicked to not trust completely in the Lord. It’s wicked to not believe that He will do what He said He will do in His Word. So when these thoughts or feelings come in to our mind we need to fight back in Christ because Satan sure wants you to throw the towel in. Christ wants to empower YOU in Him to defeat the devil. He wants to show out in your Life but He needs cooperation from you. The Lord is a gentleman and He will do what He needs to do when He has our permission to do so. Crazy He is Lord and still waits for us to say, ” Take the wheel Lord!”

Being around believers who love the Lord helps soften your heart so it’s easier for you to turn to Him. I would encourage you to meet with local believers often whether it’s in a Church setting, small group or just a hangout. The Lord lives in and uses His believers too. So many times I felt like giving up and found myself around believers and those thoughts simply disappeared without me confessing to them my thoughts. Awesome right?

Just a small recap: The Lord will never leave you nor forsake you! – Hebrew 13:5 He will not fail us but He does require our cooperation first. Open up to the Lord, confess your sins and let the Lord heal your mind so He can empower you to walk In Him and defeat the devil who comes to steal from us, kill us and destroy us! But remember Jesus said, “I have come that YOU may have Life and Life more abundantly.” – John 10:10

Jesus is life! In the Bible (John 14:6) it says, ” I am the truth, the way, and the life.” So just open up to Life aka  Jesus and watch your perspective change. Turning our focus to the Jesus makes Him Lord over us and that situation. This is the cure❤️

If you have never made the decision to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior and want to, feel free to ask your local pastor or believer. Or you can PM me on social media.
