Morning Devo- Lord, all I have is mustard seed sized faith. By Sherry Thorpe

IMG_2953

Dear Lord,

I am writing to you today to let you know I struggle in believing in what you can do sometimes. Please understand Lord Jesus I want to believe your words, but I think this World has damaged my belief. Or maybe it’s fear crippling my belief in you! Or maybe it’s the Devil attempting to steal my faith. I really don’t know Lord.

I am writing you to ask you for help! I want to believe in every single word that comes from you. So what must I do, how can I grow my faith? I’ve seen those that go before me, my friends, and family member’s faith, and it seems that they have big faith. But my faith is small. Like really small Lord. Like small as a mustard seed. How do I get the faith to walk on water like Peter, Lord? I mean I don’t really need to physically walk on water but in my life right now I feel like I’m in the boat and the opportunity is there for me to get out of the boat aka step out on faith and trust fully in you but I feel paralyzed!

Lord, I thank you for taking time to hear my prayer! I thank you that you want me to believe and humbly I come before your throne asking for help. I thank you Lord that you are faithful to help me in my request by pointing me to your word! I thank you that right now as I am typing you are bringing up scriptures planted in my heart to remind me of your words.

Answers in Scriptures: Lord, I thank you that your word says, “faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God” Romans 10:17. So I should place myself in a position to hear your Word. I thank you that you said in your word that if I have “faith as small as a mustard seed I can move mountains and nothing will be impossible for me” Matt 17:20. I thank you Lord that your word says, “you go before me and I should not be afraid.” Deut 31:8. In your word it says that “you are the Way!” John 14:6. In following You I am following the Way, well that’s cool.  Thank you for reminding me that “if you are for me who can be against me.” Romans 8:31. Thank you Lord for simply being for me. Thank you Lord for placing me in your Church that I may hear your good word and be built up into your body. Thank you Lord for placing me in a country where I have complete access to your message to the World anytime and anywhere. Thank you Lord for reminding me that just like Esther, “I was born for such a time as this.” Esthers 4:14. Despite what’s going on in the World, you stragically made sure that I would be this age, at this time, in this place, to spread your Word and be a testimony to all creation that you are good and merciful. Thank you Lord for letting me know “you will never leave me nor forsake me.” Hebrews 13:5. Thank you Lord for being the good Shepard that will leave the 99 sheep just to come and get little ole’ me. Lord thank you for being 100 percent faithful to your Word. I am grateful that you are the best promise keeper. Thank you Lord for sending me a helper, the Holy Spirit, to remind me your Word and help guide me.

Okay I get it now Lord when I am feeling low, I can just go to the Bible and read your word. I can also pray to you anytime I want to which is great. #UnlimitedAccess. I see that it’s actually good to already have scriptures planted in my heart for times like this. Even through this simple blog that I started to write reviewing these scriptures totally brought peace over me. I see that it is true that “Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Psalm 119:105

Hey Blog reader! Yeah YOU! Do you have faith as small as a mustard seed? Well I have good news, NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR YOU!

If you have never made the decision to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior and want to, feel free to ask your local pastor or believer. Or you can PM me on social media.

God is jealous for YOU! By Sherry Thorpe

IMG_2941

Did you know God is jealous for you? The Bible says that “You must worship no other gods, for the LORD, whose very name is Jealous, is a God who is jealous about his relationship with you.” Exodus 34:14

You must not worship no other gods! You must not make any idols!

You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.” Exodus 20:14

What does that mean when it says the Lord is jealous for us? It means that God wants you. Not a partial part of you but you wholly (fully). He wants and deserves FIRST place in your life. This means God becomes before your father, mother, siblings, grand parents, job, career, studies, dreams, money, cars, television, social media, school etc… These things if we are not careful can become our idols. So we must remain in the light where the Lord can expose our shortcomings and wash us clean of our unhealthy love/desire for idols. The Lord wants first place!

He is the only one who actually deserves first place because He thought about us all the way to the cross and even afterwards.

I have been bold enough to pray “Lord if it distracts me from you then take it from me or help me manage it better.” I’ve lost good paying jobs, good jobs with great benefits, nice people in my life and I look back and it’s because I slowly but surely began to place them and their needs, request, time before my God. I’m prone to wander off God’s path the Bible says in Isaiah 53:6 and He is merciful towards us but we must not test Him.

The Lord wants your attention so please don’t be shocked if things are taken away and don’t complain because our God who giveth also taketh (Job 1:21). If it’s taken it’s for our good and we are given the opportunity to turn our hearts to God and who knows the Lord might set you up like Job in the Bible – he lost everything and got so much more from the Lord in return. Job’s portion increased lol.

God wants and deserves and waits for you to give Him your attention. You can simply call His name to place your attention on Him. When you give Him your attention it’s actually the best position to be in. When your attention is on Him (when you give Him first place) you are in a secret place, you are in peace, you are comforted, you are washed clean, you are BLESSED!

God is not selfish, He WANTS to bless you. The Lord says, “If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!” Matt 7:11 The lord wants to give you gifts!

God wants ALL of you and He is not into settling. Thank the Lord for His mercy for the things we put before rather it be unconsciencely or purposely. We should thank the Lord for His mercy and also be soberly aware not to put things before Him. The Lord’s mercy endures forever and each morning His mercy is new. Lamentations 3:22-23

This is our God and He wants you. He wants to spend time with you. He wants you to know Him in a personal way. He wants you to love Him. He wants first place. He wants to bless you. He wants to protect you. He wants to comfort you. He wants to be YOUR GOD!

If you have never made the decision to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior and want to, feel free to ask your local pastor or believer. Or you can PM me on social media.

Morning Devo- What if you were sick and you didn’t know it? By Sherry Thorpe

img_2909.png

What if you were sick right now? Wouldn’t you do whatever needs to be done to be in good health?

I started this blog with the original audience being those that travel or enjoy reading travel blogs but through my visit to Hawaii, Mexico and Belize I discovered that being in Spirit is my favorite place. In Spirit aka In Christ is my favorite destination.

The only way to this destination is through Christ as he says in His word, “I am the truth, the way and the life” – John 14:6 and The says that “Anyone who calls on His name shall be saved.” Romans 10:13. That means if you call on Him you WILL be saved, no membership card needed, no need to make donation, no need to go feed the homeless. You call, you are saved! If the Lord leads you to do the above do so firmly In Christ!

I’ve recently discovered through conversations, listening to music and tv that people really don’t know how to find that place in Christ or they are pretending to be there and they are not or they’ve simply never been In Christ. My observation wasn’t just of unbelievers but believers too. How could a Christian enjoy any place other more than they enjoy being In Christ? Or how does one fake “Being In Christ?” It was shocking to me. It was also shocking that a lot of people couldn’t relate to my simple experiences in Christ, the feelings, the realizations, and the truth.

STOP FAKING! I’m begging you if you are faking, stop it. You don’t have to fake it. Screw what this World says about believers. Being in Christ is OUR safety place. It’s our secret spot. It’s our heaven on Earth. How can you fake being here In Spirit? And you really don’t have to fake it, just turn your focus to Jesus and tell Him I want to be In YOU (In Spirit). I want to worship you there! And He will place you there spontaneously! Call His name and it will take you to our secret place.

This is a no judgement zone but sometimes we need to be called out when we are faking it or simply deceived. I want you to know what is real. I want you to experience Him for yourself. I want Him to be your Life, your peace, your joy, your enjoyment!

But then I met a people who knew they weren’t perfect but had no idea that they were sick. I’ve actually met sick Christians who behave as if they don’t know Jesus is the healer.

The same Jesus you read about in the Bible is saying TRY ME! I will LIVE in you. I will guide you. I will be with you always. I will love you and take care of you. I will heal you. I will restore you. I will transform you. Behold I make all things new. I will make you NEW! I will give you a loving family (the church) to support you and build you up In Me. I will give YOU LIFE.

The problem lies in that some people think that once you’re saved that they no longer need any more saving. Yes on one hand we are saved, but we are also being saved RIGHT now and the Lord goes before us and will continue to save us from the Devil and His wicked schemes against us. Needing Jesus isn’t some need that just appears Sunday morning. This is an everyday dosage that’s needed. We NEED Jesus! E V E R Y D A Y!

• We are sick and need to be healed from loving ourselves, things and others MORE than God! #NoIdolsBeforeHim

• We are sick and need to be healed from being prideful, coveting our neighbors possessions, lying (little white lies too), deceiving, always being right, showing fake love, being fake, laziness, living in shame, murdering people in our hearts, backstabbing, chasing money/success/men/women/ etc…

• We are sick and need to be healed and washed from what we’ve said, what we’ve done, what we’ve heard, what we’ve seen etc…

Its ok if you can relate to any of those I’ve written about above. The Lord is waiting with open arms for you. He is a loving God. Be humble and come to Jesus by calling on His name Right where you are! The Lord is the best Doctor and his healing touch is the best cure… for everything!

The Lord said, “It is not the healthy that need a Doctor, it’s the sick. I have not come to call the righteous but the sinners to repentance.” – Luke 5:31-32 Be unashamed to admit you are sick and receive healing from my fave Doctor❤️

Morning Devo- I don’t feel like being a Christian anymore. By Sherry Thorpe

img_28791.jpg

Nothing is working. I haven’t changed. I can’t “feel” God anymore. Maybe He has left me because I’m too much of a sinner. I don’t want to be fake. I just want to live my life and be a good person, but I don’t want to be a Christian.

If you’ve accepted Christ in to you, you are a Christian and those feelings may or may not come. Feelings where it seems like everything is going wrong and you keep failing at things you are trying to do right! Hmm I wonder if anyone in the Bible can relate?

Paul begged the Lord 3 times to take “a suffering away” and the Lord simply replied with, “My Grace is enough, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Meaning you don’t need me to take “it” away from you, you just need my grace and it’s good to be weak and acknowledge it. When we admit we are weak, we allow the Lord to come in and His power is exposed in our Life. Indulge yourself in His grace- In the person of Christ and watch how those negative feelings will change. It’s something about being in the Person of Christ that takes us straight to paradise. This has been my experience! Regardless of the day I’ve had if I would simply turn my focus to Christ, the Lord is faithful to bless me with His peace and overwhelms me with His Love every single time.

When negative feelings like “I just want to throw the towel in” comes in to your mind, into your feelings just turn your focus completely to the Lord and watch how He strengthens you In Him.

” if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14

We may not see it as wicked but it is wicked to not trust completely in the Lord. It’s wicked to not believe that He will do what He said He will do in His Word. So when these thoughts or feelings come in to our mind we need to fight back in Christ because Satan sure wants you to throw the towel in. Christ wants to empower YOU in Him to defeat the devil. He wants to show out in your Life but He needs cooperation from you. The Lord is a gentleman and He will do what He needs to do when He has our permission to do so. Crazy He is Lord and still waits for us to say, ” Take the wheel Lord!”

Being around believers who love the Lord helps soften your heart so it’s easier for you to turn to Him. I would encourage you to meet with local believers often whether it’s in a Church setting, small group or just a hangout. The Lord lives in and uses His believers too. So many times I felt like giving up and found myself around believers and those thoughts simply disappeared without me confessing to them my thoughts. Awesome right?

Just a small recap: The Lord will never leave you nor forsake you! – Hebrew 13:5 He will not fail us but He does require our cooperation first. Open up to the Lord, confess your sins and let the Lord heal your mind so He can empower you to walk In Him and defeat the devil who comes to steal from us, kill us and destroy us! But remember Jesus said, “I have come that YOU may have Life and Life more abundantly.” – John 10:10

Jesus is life! In the Bible (John 14:6) it says, ” I am the truth, the way, and the life.” So just open up to Life aka  Jesus and watch your perspective change. Turning our focus to the Jesus makes Him Lord over us and that situation. This is the cure❤️

Morning Devo – Despite what’s happening in this World, I’ve still been called to go into all the World…! By Sherry Thorpe

IMG_2858

I don’t want to get to the end of my earthly life and turn back and say, “well done Sherry, you succeeded in completing all of your goals!” No I want a “well done” from God. I want to please Him. In order for this to happen I practice being In Christ spontaneously by enjoying Him as my Life, so I can be lead to do exactly what God has ordained me to do.

I try to always bring “the process” up to Christians because I want to remind them, myself included, that we are in the process. God will complete the good work He started in us (Phil 1:6) but it isn’t complete yet. Wanna know how I know? Because we still have our fallen nature. In Christ we are more than conquerors (Roman 8:37) but in ourselves we are still fallen. And although we practice being In Christ, we are not always In Him. Some times we are in ourselves in our feelings. If we could just be honest with ourselves to see our imperfections we will see the Lord is still working on us and this is okay. It’s actually good news! Who else would take their time perfecting YOU? His standard is perfect and this perfect standard can only be met In Christ and He is more than willing to bring you to it spontaneously as you spend time with Him.

My number 1 goal is simple and it is to know God. In knowing God, I find out everything I need to know (Matt 6:33) “the rest added to you”, comes after “seeking first His Kingdom and His righteousness“. So first I seek Him and then He reveals Himself, His plans, and my individual purpose in Him. Did you know God wants you to KNOW Him (Hosea 6:6). He wants you to come into the full knowledge of who He is. My prayer for you is simple, it’s a prayer that you may KNOW God for yourself!

How would any of us know anything about God or Know that He wants us to know Him, if no one ever tells us? I have the opportunity to be able to travel often and I’ve visited places because someone mentioned it. I actually didn’t even know some places existed until someone mentioned it to me. Some people have this very small idea that God wants to save them and that’s it BUT He wants to do much more. He wants YOU to be saved into His Kingdom operating in your purpose for the building up of His Church. This takes priority over everything. This is what people mean when they say “God over everything”. But there’s a difference in saying it with our mouths and living it out.

The Lord is merciful so please don’t beat your self up if you’ve put your own interest before Him. Just confess your sins, open yourself to Jesus, so He can wash you clean and build you up in Him. It’s quite simple.

Now as the Lord leads you, tell others about Him in whatever platform He places you in, through speaking, writing a blog, fb post, twitter, in school, at work, at the grocery store, at the gas station, passing out a gospel track- This is going into all the World. You don’t need a passport to tell your coworker(s) or fellow classmate(s) about Jesus. Talking about God should be so normal to believers. After all He is our very foundation and is becoming our very substance. Just let the Lord flow in and out.❤️

Go into all the World and preach the Gospel to all creation” – Mark 16:15

Morning Devo- Are there any side effects to being a Christian! By Sherry Thorpe

IMG_2837

I live in a country where if you’re sick and you take medicine you may get some crazy side effects. You might get healed in one area then in another area you need some more medicine to cope with the sickness you just received from the medicine you took. WHAT?! I just want to be cured with NO CRAZY SIDE EFFECTS. If I have a cold, I would like to take some cold medicine without experiencing dizziness or drowsiness lol.

So what’s the side effects of being a believer in Jesus Christ? Sorry, I have to break the news to you, but believing in Jesus comes with side effects! I’ve experienced the best side effects from believing in Jesus. One day I remember being tired, like really tired, like wanting to go and take a nap nap! I met with some girls I knew in high school and I was telling them my experiences about accepting Jesus as my Lord and Savior, and would you know that ALL of that tiredness went away, in fact I experienced a joyful strength of endurance.

Isaiah 40:31 “but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

I needed to be used in that very moment to tell friends about my Best Friend, Jesus Christ and He alone supplied me with strength (#noRedBull) and I ended up talking to them for hours about Christ lol nap nap time was irrelevant.

I remember facing situations, facing days like I CAN NOT GO ON. Ready for the Lord to take me out this game called life. Through fellowship with other believers, prayers, and time with the Lord I was strengthened. I felt empowered to go on. No pills for my depression and suicidal thoughts, Just Jesus.

DISCLAIMER: Please do not feel like I am advising anyone to stop taking any pills of any kind given from their Doctor; however I would like to encourage you to pray about pills you do place in your body and allow the Lord to lead you in what you should take.

Negative side effects are turned into a positive for those that are in Christ (Romans 8:28). Now Christ was a humble guy so if we are IN CHRIST we will be humble.  In Christ, we Christians are always displaying Christ. However we Christians are not always in Christ (this is different from Christ being in US, He never leaves us). When we are in ourself, we display ourself. Before the comments flow in, let me ask you this question are you perfect? No, we are not perfect (without sin)! If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.” 1 John 1:8. Christians are practicing being IN Christ and sometimes unconsciensly/ purposely we wander off from Christ but don’t worry the Lord has an awesome gps track system on us (Jesus in us) and He will come get us or he’ll send His workers to direct us back to Him❤️

I don’t really understand myself, for I want to do what is right, but I don’t do it. Instead, I do what I hate.” Romans 7:15

If you fail remember this, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28 Simply confess your sins and the Lord is faithful and just to forgive you and cleanse you from sin(s). 1 John 1:9 AND then carry on with your life IN CHRIST!

So being a Christian has its side effects but trust and believe like State Farm we are in good hands!

Morning Devo- Have you experienced God as your Father? #RIPUnclePhil ❤️

IMG_2794

Growing up in the USA is different. Did you know it’s still a foreign idea to be raised in a single parent home?

That was the norm to me, most of my friends grew up in a single parent home, with either their Mom/Dad/Grandmom/Big Sibling being the primary or only care giver. It’s a different world that you experience when being raised in a single parent home.

A few things that I’ve notice is that mostly men teach by doing and letting their child experience life by being adventures and exploring on their own. Woman (for the most part) give ALOT of warnings and explanations to why they give warnings. “Don’t touch that because it’s hot and it will burn you,” a mom might say to a child who has a desire to a touch  a stove top. A father might just watch his child touch it and wait for their reaction. A lot of men and women teach differently.

Well my Dad taught by leading by example. My Dad to my knowledge and what I saw is that he did his very best to lead me in the right direction. I grew up in a very diverse neighborhood in Irving, Texas, USA. I mean it’s a huge melting pot here so many different nationalities it’s such a beautiful thing to witness and experience so many cultures in one city! I was not taught anything negative about a different person because of their belief or skin color by my Dad. #Awesome

img_2795.png

I watched my Dad make friends with anyone he came into contact with. My Dad does NOT meet strangers and that’s one of the many things I love about him. Growing up in our home, I never went hungry, I always had clothes, shoes on my feet, and food on the table. My Dad gave me exactly what I needed when it came to shelter and material things. Despite me being ungrateful and crazy disrespectful (I was definitely worse than the prodigal son but thank the Lord for His blood) growing up my Dad never abandoned me.

When I offered my life to the Lord for the second time at the age of 21 it was easy for me to see God as a Father-figure because that’s something I did not lack growing up. Because I actually had a great Dad, it made it easier to know that God, “would never leave me nor forsake me” like His word says in Hebrews 13:5.

When the Bible says,  “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?”  – Matt 6:25 I trust the Lord enough to not worry and plus a witness of God in the Bible states that “I have never seen the righteous of his children begging for bread” – Psalm 37:25

It was easy for me to trust the Lord in a lot of areas of my life because my Dad showed me a father’s love in a superb way. So if God is Father of my father (My Dad is a believer too) wouldn’t He do exceedingly, above anything that we could ever imagine?- Ephesians 3:20

Now maybe you didn’t grow up the way I did. Maybe you had a lot of suffering or little suffering. Maybe you didn’t have a Dad growing up so you don’t know what a good Dad looks like. You can have a good Dad today (sorry my Dad is taken and I’m not sharing lol) But God our Father has his arms wide open ready to start or rekindle His relationship with you. He is waiting for you. He wants you to be His. He wants you to call Him Daddy, Father, and ABBA!

God is not like a human, His words are truth and He is 100 percent faithful. He never breaks His promises. This is my experience! 7 years saved and the Lord has never left me and BELIEVE ME I’m not perfect. No demon in hell can separate you from our Father’s love! Romans 8:38-39

I hope and pray that you open yourself to God and experience His magnificent love in an extraordinary way.

Thank you for taking time to read my blog.
