Did you know God is jealous for you? The Bible says that “You must worship no other gods, for the LORD, whose very name is Jealous, is a God who is jealous about his relationship with you.” Exodus 34:14

You must not worship no other gods! You must not make any idols!

“You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.” Exodus 20:14

What does that mean when it says the Lord is jealous for us? It means that God wants you. Not a partial part of you but you wholly (fully). He wants and deserves FIRST place in your life. This means God becomes before your father, mother, siblings, grand parents, job, career, studies, dreams, money, cars, television, social media, school etc… These things if we are not careful can become our idols. So we must remain in the light where the Lord can expose our shortcomings and wash us clean of our unhealthy love/desire for idols. The Lord wants first place!

He is the only one who actually deserves first place because He thought about us all the way to the cross and even afterwards.

I have been bold enough to pray “Lord if it distracts me from you then take it from me or help me manage it better.” I’ve lost good paying jobs, good jobs with great benefits, nice people in my life and I look back and it’s because I slowly but surely began to place them and their needs, request, time before my God. I’m prone to wander off God’s path the Bible says in Isaiah 53:6 and He is merciful towards us but we must not test Him.

The Lord wants your attention so please don’t be shocked if things are taken away and don’t complain because our God who giveth also taketh (Job 1:21). If it’s taken it’s for our good and we are given the opportunity to turn our hearts to God and who knows the Lord might set you up like Job in the Bible – he lost everything and got so much more from the Lord in return. Job’s portion increased lol.

God wants and deserves and waits for you to give Him your attention. You can simply call His name to place your attention on Him. When you give Him your attention it’s actually the best position to be in. When your attention is on Him (when you give Him first place) you are in a secret place, you are in peace, you are comforted, you are washed clean, you are BLESSED!

God is not selfish, He WANTS to bless you. The Lord says, “If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!” Matt 7:11 The lord wants to give you gifts!

God wants ALL of you and He is not into settling. Thank the Lord for His mercy for the things we put before rather it be unconsciencely or purposely. We should thank the Lord for His mercy and also be soberly aware not to put things before Him. The Lord’s mercy endures forever and each morning His mercy is new. Lamentations 3:22-23

This is our God and He wants you. He wants to spend time with you. He wants you to know Him in a personal way. He wants you to love Him. He wants first place. He wants to bless you. He wants to protect you. He wants to comfort you. He wants to be YOUR GOD!
