Morning Devo- We are the champions – By Sherry Thorpe

Last night I had the opportunity to witness the Warriors vs Cavs game, and I must say it was a very interesting game. The last 2 games in the final are the only games I was truly tuned into. And I’m glad I watched those games!

Game 4 of the Finals: My observation as well as others observations the refs were clearly blind to many of the Cav’s faults, fouls, and back court errors lol. And yet the Warriors continued to give their all. Continued to behave as a team and support each other. Actually both teams did this. Well duh Sherry what are they suppose to do be against each other that’s not team work!

Side note: Are we supportive and cheering our brothers and sisters on In Christ? Are we cheering them on to continue their walk In Christ or are we calling them out when they foul. Sherry, Christians can’t foul.

Side note: Lets say a foul is when a Christian falls into sin, or says a scripture wrong or teaches something wrong, or says something wrong or writes something offensive on social media. Are they still our brothers/sisters in Christ? Shouldn’t we correct them In Love. How can the NBA created by men get this right but the Church, God’s prize possession, light of the world, get this wrong?

The endurance from the warriors despite their adversaries (the refs) continued to bring their all. I believe their very best was given in these games because they wanted a W. They wanted the title “Champs”. So much practice, blood, sweat, tears, pain, and much prayers went in to these games. I learned a lot In Christ from watching this game!

Dear Christians we already have the W aka Win. The Bible says, in Romans 8:37 “We are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” Wow! And sometimes we go crazy because this scripture isn’t ringing in our ears. It’s like we or others fail and we forget mercy waits for us, forgiveness never runs out and love covers a multitude of sins. We forget that Christ is perfecting us and will never leave us or forsake us. How can we lose when God is on our side. “If God is for us than who can be against us?” Romans 8:31 The demons can’t beat us. Satan can not defeat us. As long as we are In Him, we will not lose and if we fail we should get back up in Christ! Turn to the Lord, seek forgiveness, offer repentance from a pure heart and “the Lord is just to forgive us.” 1 John 1:9 We should encourage our team mates In Christ aka In Love.

Side note: One time Ayesha prepared confetti in her hand and after a loss for the warriors, she threw the confetti up in the air as her husband Steph Curry walked by with his head down. Cheering her husband on not only cheered her husband up but those were around out a smile on his team mates faces as well. Fast forward to last night that loss probably wasn’t on his mind or his team mates. They may have lost the game that one night but they won the war! Can you relate this experience to your Christian Life. You may lose here and there, you may fail here and there BUT DONT GIVE UP. In Christ WE WIN! “Even when the bad stuff happens the Lord is able to turn it around to work for our good for those who love the Lord” Romans 8:28 Do you love the Lord? Than even the bad things work out for your good!

What would happen if the Church operated in Christ like they have been called to do? What if we cheered each other with God’s word like we’ve been called to do. What if we corrected each other in love because we know we are all team mates in the Church. Each of us have been called to expand the Kingdom of God by building God’s Church while allowing the Lord to flow in us and out to others. We have One calling. We have one goal. We WIN In Christ. Let’s behave like team mates on and off the court. No matter what local church you belong to, if you believe in Christ you are a member of Jesus body aka The Church!

If you are experiencing good sportsmanship in your local church kudos, continue to enjoy Jesus as life. If you are not experiencing good sportsmanship pray to God and ask him what must I do?

Just a reminder if you are In Christ YOU WIN! Hallelujah for the win!
