Guat’s Up #Guatemala

oh my oh my oh my!

So can I tell you that my trip to Guatemala City and Antigua was completely spontaneous and was so magnificent! Can I just tell you that I am a planner! Especially when I go on a trip out of the country, I like to look for activities to do, sites to see, and get to know as much about the country as possible. Well this wasn’t the case with my trip to Guatemala! At the very last minute I planned a trip and was off to my very first visit to Guatemala.

Guatemala is located in Central America, near one of my favorite countries, Belize! Guatemala City is divided in Zones and and I stayed in Zone (Zona) 10 near the Oakland Mall!

Habla Espanol? Well I know a little Spanish and I got around fine. Majority of the country speaks Spanish. This wasn’t like Cancun where I could find a lot of locals who spoke English. I definitely felt the need to go back home and learn Spanish. Nonetheless everyone was helpful and I got around fine with the little Spanish I knew! Also I met a solo traveler (just like myself) and she knew more Spanish than me, so that helped a lot.

Okay, let’s get to the good stuff right! What did I do? Well because I was only there for 3 days, I saw a lot but no where near all of what the country or even the two cities I visited had to offer.

The first place I visited was Oakland Mall! Y’all this mall was huge. I counted the number of floors a few times and I believe the number I care up was 8! Yes you read that correctly 8 floors! So if you’re a shoppaholic it’s a must you stop by the mall and get your fix! The mall has a plethora of restaurants on the ‘rooftop’ – not exactly on the roof FYI, it’s just that floors name’

The highlight of my Guatemala City visit was the mall. In Zona 10 there’s a bar and club area. Literally all within walking distance or an  UBER. <—- That’s a great Segway to transportation.

Guatemala public transportation- Guat has buses and Uber (super cheap) however I was advised against riding the Local buses due to the danger (FYI I went to Guatemala solo and not once did I feel threatened) in fact there’s plenty of police officers and security guards with guns and that helped with me feel more safe in the foreign land!

Guatemala’s money- There exchange rate was about 7.6 Q to the U.S dollar. I went to the bank in the Oakland mall to exchange my US dollars for Guatemalan Quetzal. You can pay with U.S dollars in Guatemala as well. But just to ensure I received the correct change and to avoid confusion, I paid with Guat’s Q or my debit card!

My plan was to take a tour from Guatemala City to Antigua but the tour companies would only take 2 minimum for the tour. But I’m so glad I was denied because my alternative route was much better! I googled and found a blog about Guatemala and low and behold Claire wrote a blog on how to get from Guatemala City to Antigua. And she mentioned ÇA Express. Aghhh this bus was the fanciest shuttle bus I’ve ever been on. They have a small bar, snacks/beverages for sell and free WiFi!!! And the owner Pierro (who is fluent in English) was so helpful. He is responsible for our smooth transition from his bus into Antigua! He knew the town and recommended all the hot spots. Pay the extra dollar or two and get the comfort, WiFi and amazing deets on Antigua!

Okay let’s jump to what is now my favorite city on EARTH! #Antigua ❤️

Antigua used to be Guatemala’s Capitol city but now Guatemala City is and OH MY it is full of culture, surrounded by volcanos and gives off great vibes! You can literally walk from one side of the city to the other side in 20’minutes!

Fast forward to a beautiful Farm to Table restaurant called Caoba Farm . Funny story because I wasn’t paying much attention to the name ‘Farm to Table’ as we were exploring the farm, I saw animals like sheep, chickens, pigs and turkeys. And I said, ‘Wow it’s like a small zoo!’ As I’m snapping photos. I was reminded by Jennifer that those animals will be someone’s dinner! #Wow 🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️ Lol How did I miss that?! 😂😂But VEGANS don’t worry the farm had plenty of meal selections for you too!

Caoba Farm

Caoba Farm was my first ‘Farm to table experience and it was so grand. It’s a must you go there for lunch, breakfast, or dinner. Prices are reasonable as well. The average meal was around $10 to $15 USD. We visited on a Saturday and there was live music.

Caoba Farm- Curry Chicken sandwich, potatoes, salad and a strawberry smoothie
Strawberry smoothie with a flower on top!

Okay as I mentioned in the beginning that I didn’t spend enough time to get out of the country everything it has to offer but just because I didn’t doesn’t mean you can not. I have listed some other tourist spots in Guatemala. And of course I am going back so I’ll definitely update this blog post accordingly.

Atitlan Lake (2 hours from Guat City)- Considered one of the most beautiful lakes in the World!

Pacaya Volcano (1 hour from Guat City)- Most frequently climbed Volcano. Views are amazing. I saw pictures from a girl that I met in a hostel and she was literally above the clouds. One of the reason I have to go back ASAP is to hike this Volcano. It’s a two day trip. Definitely worth it so alive heard!

Semuc Champey (6 hours from Guat City) -Natural pools

Chichi Castenango (2.5 hours from Guat City) Considered one of the largest indigenous market in the whole region!

Well that’s all folks! Thank you for checking out my blog post about my trip to Guatemala. Feel free to browse around. Just FYI, my blog is about my spiritual journey as well as my Earthly journey:-) Feel free to drop a comment. Until next time #WhereInTheWorldIsSherryCherryBerry. Who knows where I’m going next! ✈️✈️✈️

Viva Los Cabo

Omgoodness where do I begin.

Okay, okay I will  begin with the knowledge I received while in Cabo that I wish I had known before.

Los Cabos consist of 2 towns: San Jose Del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas. San Jose is way cheaper and is more chill. San Lucas has about 20 mile passage of beach front resorts. San Lucas resorts include everything you would possibly need like food, drinks (small bar located in RIU Santa Fe rooms) , beaches, tour reservations, pool, clubs, and pool parties. If you can’t find what you need on the resort then a Walmart is central to the resorts and taxis are always available.

My friends planned their trip in advance and I literally planned my trip the month of us leaving. I did not stay in the resort although I visited (not knowing that I couldn’t visit!) #whoops Since I wasn’t allowed on the property without buying a day pass (price range $95 to $125 just ask the front desk if you’d like one) I traveled to my Air BNB and man Oh man it was “Trouble, Trouble” (in my Bernie mac voice. Neither myself nor the taxi driver could find the Air bnb so I ended up booking a hotel last minute, thank the Lord I didn’t visit Cabo during the busy season. I ended up spending an additional $175.00 for the hotel (my air bnb was $68 in all but I got a full refund). Lets talk about this later; back to the details I wish I knew before hand.

“The Cartel is going to get me!” Ugh such a false statement. I was thoroughly educated regarding the Cartel and they do not attack the Americans in fact they protect them #PlotTwist. The reason they protect the Americans and want  them to have a good time is because ‘Americans buy drugs” WELP, why kill off your biggest clients? Dear Americans you have nothing to fear (fyi I don’t do drugs but I am still protected by the Cartel lol.) Now I still recommend that you stay cautious of your surroundings. I traveled by myself and I was fine. The mexican people are friendly towards the tourist

My travel plans: I bought 2 one way tickets. Spirit DFW (Dallas, TX) to SJD (Cabo) for $110.63 and SJD to DFW on American Airlines for $100.35. Yes you read that correctly in all for a round trip I paid $211 to go to Cabo! #Winning. I left Dallas to Cabo on Sunday and returned to Dallas on Thursday. Play around with google flights to find the best price for you.

I purchased my round trip airport shuttle for $34 and ended up cancelling my return trip and caught the bus to the Airport for about $3 to to $4 USD. The service is legit. I purchased a shared ride in a van and I didn’t have any trouble. You will also receive confirmations and receipts via email. I have trust issues with giving my money to people in foreign countries (lol my own country too) so I was thankful to find this legit company.

Buses and Taxis – I felt as if the taxis were a tad bit on the expensive side. I got hit with its $10 USD for a one way trip a few times and I immediately learned how to use the bus transportation; Its about 1.50 up to $4.00 for one trip.

My tours: I used Priceless tours for 3 of my tours and 1 tour was purchased from a guy on the beach that my friends chose the first night. In all I paid a little under $200 in tours. The tour I purchased with my friends was a glass boat tour (we paid $20- you can buy it online for cheaper). The tour guide allowed me to stay over and snorkel while he did other tours and he came back to come get me ( I snorkeled without my friends, they really weren’t feeling it).  I purposely bought my own snorkel gear to well ugh snorkel.  I am so thankful I snorkeled that first day because I wasn’t able to snorkel any other days due to the beach conditions (the waves were too aggressive for swimming.) I LOVE THE BEACH so hearing the news that I couldn’t swim for the last 2 days of my trip was not pleasant news. SN: Alot of the Beaches in Cabo aren’t swim-able and I was advised this happens a lot.

My dry land tour was freaking amazing I rode a freaking camel… in the desert. YAY! Now about this tour “they will say that you can’t take pictures but in actuality the tour guides can not take pictures of you so partner with another couple and ask them to take pictures of you and you can return the favor.

My last tour included visiting 4 of the best clubs in San Lucas with transportation. It was interesting how N. American Music gets a club turned up no matter the country. If you are a party person this is the tour for you its called party hopper.

I had a blast in Cabo. Please visit my gallery for more photos from my Cabo trip! I hope this blog post gave you a little insight on traveling to Cabo. Feel free to drop a comment. Thanks for visiting my page.

Have you ever found yourself running away hopelessly?

I tried to run from the calling of God on my life, and destroy the anointing while traveling to foreign countries. Satan was happy to help me out. And God allowed it because He knew He would get the Glory!

I found myself fed up with the way my physical life was going (my spiritual life and growth was great). My physical life was giving me a headache. I was fired from 4 jobs in the past 2 years and those last 4 jobs, co workers lied on me causing me to completely shut down and crawl into my shell. My light was totally dimmed. I couldn’t handle another attack in Corporate America. I couldn’t handle one more lie, deceit, or backstabbing. I couldn’t handle giving my all to a job and finding out that I’m unappreciated and hearing those words, “We’ve decided to let you go” one more time. I couldn’t handle adopting a negative attitude because the environment I was in would NOT let me be great. I thought to myself “Okay ‘Miss Can’t get right’ let’s go travel the World”. And I did just that. I rented out my apartment for 1 month and traveled to Mexico and Belize and got in the “belly of the whale” aka UA’s airplane. I found myself indulging in the ways of my old life. I tried just about everything in the song “Cranes in the Sky” by Solange. I found myself partaking in death by enjoying the things of this World more than enjoying My King who died to set a free from the very thing I was binding myself to.

The very thing that had me once in chains and at the alter singing at the top of my lungs, “break every chain” by Jesus Culture, I willingly chained myself to it… again. There is where I experienced Grace and Mercy at its fullness. I had an extra dose of it in that season.

As I arrived in “the belly of the whale” I found myself walking straight back into my calling. I found myself trying to fight it away and run it away but it kept finding me. As I spontaneously began to pour out Christ from my speaking and being, I knew that I would never get away. And I believe I began to embrace Christ even in that dark season I was in. I continued to love Him and spend time with Him. I found His Love to be MORE potent in that season- of course His Love is always the same but I found myself in plenty of undeserving situations where I KNEW I didn’t deserve His Love, mercy, grace or His presence. Jesus didn’t withhold anything from me in this season. In this season where I tried to “Cranes in the Sky” it away, away, away By Solange Knowles.

Consciencely I didn’t know all of this was going on until I looked back at how I lived through this season. Unconsciencely I tried to run a way from the calling of God! Consciensely I went away. Consciencely I thought it was the hurt from being fired 4 times, and the pain America’s hurting people I wanted to run from. It was so much pain and still is so much pain in this World and I “just knew” My answer was in traveling and escaping the US of A! Boy, was I ever so wrong!

I found my answer in Jesus upon my return. On 6/23/17 I took my relationship with Jesus to a new level as I chose to ask the Lord to make me a living overcomer. The most liberating decision I made was to surrender completely to Jesus. Clearly the day I decided to follow Jesus on May 6, 2009 I picked up some old habits again and I needed to “run to the Cross, run to the Cross” by rapper KB Fokus (voice of the youth). I found myself purposely running to the cross each day and my life began to overflow with peace and the abundant life. I am still running to the cross daily and resting in the arms of my Savior while enjoying/experiencing decreasing and allowing Him to increase within me.

I found purpose in my efforts of trying to run away. I found purpose in the spiritual attacks I received in Corporate America. I found out that no matter the situation or circumstances God would get the glory and what the enemy meant for harm God would truly turn it around for my good (Gen 50:20).  I found out that I am truly called by God and there is no where I can hide from Him. I found out that even when I run I’ll find out that my answer always runs with me. My answer’s name is Jesus and His promises are true! I found out that no matter how much I try to ________ it away, I’ll always be able to find my answers in Jesus!

I’m so very thankful for that season because literally I feel like I’m walking on water now. Sure I have ups and downs like all people but I’ve definitely made a purposeful decision to keep Jesus in the boat with me as I travel through these human life experiences. So instead of _______ing it away, I Christ it away lol and it seems to be working. I come to Christ and lay my burdens at His feet like He has always said I (We) could do! Matt 11:28.

Well I hoped you enjoyed my transparent testimony as I totally exposed my entire life in this post.

If you have never made the decision to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior and want to, feel free to ask your local pastor or believer. Or you can PM me on social media. Or you can pray right now. Lord Jesus I believe you love me with an everlasting love. I believe you came into the World to die for my sins and forgive my sins. Please come live in me and  dine with me. I choose you to be my Lord and Savior! In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

The Bible says, “anyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved” Romans 10:13. Please share with a believer if this is your first time to pray that prayer! And please feel free to let me know by leaving a comment!

Morning Devo- Perfect paradise By Sherry Thorpe

I have been blessed with the opportunity to travel to some pretty amazing places and I’ve made the decision that My favorite created place to visit so far is Belize.

Belize is a country located in Central America and oh yea, it’s an English speaking country. The people are influenced by the carribean and Britain. Feel free to browse my other blogs about Belize. You Betta Belize it!

I love Belize because it’s so natural and authentic country! The food is fresh and the People aren’t trying to impress you with the things they own or the things that they posses that hides their true face. Those people are genuine, down to Earth, and super duper authentic. They seemed to be calmer, more relaxed, less stressed than people I usually meet in the USA. These people were transparent in their speaking and their actions. Silence only occurred when you took time to think or enjoy your surroundings. There’s so much Natural beauty around that it’s hard to ever forget the creator. I’m so surrounded by man made things here in the US that if I look away and get distracted I think more about the man/woman that created the thing rather than the Creator Himself.

Thats the created place on Earth that I love the most! However the best place that I have discovered  is in Christ. To me this is a physical place where I feel protected, all of my shame and failures are addressed and gone. All of my pain is comforted away. The Perfect One who knows me in and out, how I operate, and  what I need lives in Me. I have the opportunity every morning and throughout the day to choose to be in Him, In His presence, and conversing with Him. Jesus is my paradise on Earth.

I have tasted Jesus and I’ve felt alive so I can confess that He is the bread of Life and He is good for food like His word proclaims in John 6:35. I have tasted this Bread of Life and I can confirm that He is good. Since I’ve tasted and seen that God is good the choice that I have to make is do I want to be with Him forever. Does my living reflect this choice? Does my daily decisions reflect where I want to go?

It’s ok to fall, but it’s not ok to stay down. The Lord Himself will come and get us when we fall because He is the faithful Shepard but it’s our choice to get back up again. It’s ok to be in the process of being perfected and it’s ok for us nkt to practically perfect that’s what forgiveness and mercy is for. The Lord is merciful but His mercy is not to be abused or misused. Paul warns us in Romans 6:1-2 “What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?” Romans 8:37 We are to be more than conquerors through Christ who strengthens us to get back up and endure In Christ to the end. To the Lord returns to us. Failure will come because we still have our fallen flesh but we are to “submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” James 4:7 We want to resist the Devil in order to be In paradise experiencing our wonderful Christ as Life. We have to remember that Christ is better than anything that this World has to offer us. He is our perfect place to travel to In the Spirit our very own Universe to travel to. It’s our escape zone, our safety net, our secret place, our healing factory, our renewing zone, and our transformation place.

So what should we do to remain IN CHRIST? Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness… Matt 6:33 (this is not to seek first “The American Dream” And guess what? When we seek Him first He ALONE gives us the desires of our heart. Psalm 37:4 Take delight in Him first and YOU WANT BE DISAPPOINTED. You can delight yourself In Him anywhere at work, at school, in the restroom, in the kitchen, at home, at a friend’s house etc.. The Lord has given us total access to Him wherever we are we can say Lord Jesus and enter into this Beautiful paradise!

Have you experienced the perfect paradise?

If you have never made the decision to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior and want to, feel free to ask your local pastor or believer. Or you can PM me on social media.

Morning Devo- Those who endure to the end… By Sherry Thorpe

In February of this year I decided to take a trip to Honolulu, Hawaii. I was not disappointed with my visit, Hawaii has everything. Hawaii has the ocean, volcanoes, hiking trails, scenic views, and much more. Hawaii was simply beautiful.

While in Hawaii I decided to hike up Diamond Head. Diamond Head is Volcanic tuff cone and is a state monument in Hawaii. I woke up before the sun rose that morning ( I read in blogs that its a good place to see the sunrise). I caught the bus to Diamond Head from Wakiki Beach (about a 10 min ride) and I believe I paid $1 or $2 to enter (By car you have to pay to park). I started the journey in the DARK (picture below) and when I say it was dark I had to use my phone’s flashlight just to see the path that I was walking. I met a man on the journey and we began to walk together. I actually felt safer and I am glad that he was there.

Do you see the fear in my eyes? Lol

I WAS TIRED! This was a 1.5 to 2 hour hike round trip and I am not a person who hikes at ALL. Half way through I wanted to quit but the journey back to my hostel wasn’t worth giving up since I had already started the hike.  I called on the Lord a lot. I began thinking why did I sign myself up for this, I am so out of shape. I was tired and hot thinking to myself surely seeing the sunrise after this is not even worth the journey. Feeling defeated I began to take charge and just focus my thoughts on getting to the top, because there was no need for me to complain about taking the journey since I had already began it. I started to see more people on the hike and they provided unspoken encouragement as they continued on the path and didn’t turn around to quit and return home. A determination came over me and I wanted to make it to the top. I wanted to be at the top of the Diamond Head.

Hiking the Diamond head is similar to my walk as a Christian. I started this journey in Christ in 2009 and while I was walking I’ve had days where I wanted to give up and throw in the towel. I started to think but I’ve worked too hard. I’ve suffered too much and sacrificed a lot. It made so much sense to continue the mission appointed to me In Christ. Even my tired days I continued on because I wanted to reach the top. I strategically planned my days to be around the Saints just to receive energy to continue on.  I wanted to hear the words “Well done“- Matt 25:21. Thankfully even when I didn’t want to carry on the Lord’s angels ushered me into God’s presence to give me strength to endure. A desire to endure to the end increased well within my being. And soon again I wanted to be at the table where the Lord serves His people. I wanted to meet my God face to face. No matter how much sweat or tears I suffer(ed) through now, I believe it will be worth it, more worth it than my view at the top of the Diamond Head.

The Top❤️

Are you determined to endure to the end? The bible says, “But the one who endures to the end will be saved.” Wait I am already saved right? Yes if you have confessed that Jesus is Lord and have been baptized you have received eternal life and you have been saved from the World’s power. Now the journey includes you to choose Christ every day of your life making Him Lord of everything in your life. This is enduring to the end! Choosing Christ even to our very last breathe. Don’t worry if you fail that is what grace, mercy, love, and forgiveness is for. If you fall just don’t stay down. You may lose some battles but remember IN Christ we are more than conquerors. Romans 8:37 YOU can make it to the very TOP in Christ if only you would just believe and place your faith in the Great I AM. I once heard “Your going on is my going on” there is an unspoken encouragement when I see other believers continuing there journey in Christ determined to endure to the end.

Morning Devo- We are the champions – By Sherry Thorpe

Last night I had the opportunity to witness the Warriors vs Cavs game, and I must say it was a very interesting game. The last 2 games in the final are the only games I was truly tuned into. And I’m glad I watched those games!

Game 4 of the Finals: My observation as well as others observations the refs were clearly blind to many of the Cav’s faults, fouls, and back court errors lol. And yet the Warriors continued to give their all. Continued to behave as a team and support each other. Actually both teams did this. Well duh Sherry what are they suppose to do be against each other that’s not team work!

Side note: Are we supportive and cheering our brothers and sisters on In Christ? Are we cheering them on to continue their walk In Christ or are we calling them out when they foul. Sherry, Christians can’t foul.

Side note: Lets say a foul is when a Christian falls into sin, or says a scripture wrong or teaches something wrong, or says something wrong or writes something offensive on social media. Are they still our brothers/sisters in Christ? Shouldn’t we correct them In Love. How can the NBA created by men get this right but the Church, God’s prize possession, light of the world, get this wrong?

The endurance from the warriors despite their adversaries (the refs) continued to bring their all. I believe their very best was given in these games because they wanted a W. They wanted the title “Champs”. So much practice, blood, sweat, tears, pain, and much prayers went in to these games. I learned a lot In Christ from watching this game!

Dear Christians we already have the W aka Win. The Bible says, in Romans 8:37 “We are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” Wow! And sometimes we go crazy because this scripture isn’t ringing in our ears. It’s like we or others fail and we forget mercy waits for us, forgiveness never runs out and love covers a multitude of sins. We forget that Christ is perfecting us and will never leave us or forsake us. How can we lose when God is on our side. “If God is for us than who can be against us?” Romans 8:31 The demons can’t beat us. Satan can not defeat us. As long as we are In Him, we will not lose and if we fail we should get back up in Christ! Turn to the Lord, seek forgiveness, offer repentance from a pure heart and “the Lord is just to forgive us.” 1 John 1:9 We should encourage our team mates In Christ aka In Love.

Side note: One time Ayesha prepared confetti in her hand and after a loss for the warriors, she threw the confetti up in the air as her husband Steph Curry walked by with his head down. Cheering her husband on not only cheered her husband up but those were around out a smile on his team mates faces as well. Fast forward to last night that loss probably wasn’t on his mind or his team mates. They may have lost the game that one night but they won the war! Can you relate this experience to your Christian Life. You may lose here and there, you may fail here and there BUT DONT GIVE UP. In Christ WE WIN! “Even when the bad stuff happens the Lord is able to turn it around to work for our good for those who love the Lord” Romans 8:28 Do you love the Lord? Than even the bad things work out for your good!

What would happen if the Church operated in Christ like they have been called to do? What if we cheered each other with God’s word like we’ve been called to do. What if we corrected each other in love because we know we are all team mates in the Church. Each of us have been called to expand the Kingdom of God by building God’s Church while allowing the Lord to flow in us and out to others. We have One calling. We have one goal. We WIN In Christ. Let’s behave like team mates on and off the court. No matter what local church you belong to, if you believe in Christ you are a member of Jesus body aka The Church!

If you are experiencing good sportsmanship in your local church kudos, continue to enjoy Jesus as life. If you are not experiencing good sportsmanship pray to God and ask him what must I do?

Just a reminder if you are In Christ YOU WIN! Hallelujah for the win!

If you have never made the decision to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior and want to, feel free to ask your local pastor or believer. Or you can PM me on social media.

Morning Devo- What if you were sick and you didn’t know it? By Sherry Thorpe

What if you were sick right now? Wouldn’t you do whatever needs to be done to be in good health?

I started this blog with the original audience being those that travel or enjoy reading travel blogs but through my visit to Hawaii, Mexico and Belize I discovered that being in Spirit is my favorite place. In Spirit aka In Christ is my favorite destination.

The only way to this destination is through Christ as he says in His word, “I am the truth, the way and the life” – John 14:6 and The says that “Anyone who calls on His name shall be saved.” Romans 10:13. That means if you call on Him you WILL be saved, no membership card needed, no need to make donation, no need to go feed the homeless. You call, you are saved! If the Lord leads you to do the above do so firmly In Christ!

I’ve recently discovered through conversations, listening to music and tv that people really don’t know how to find that place in Christ or they are pretending to be there and they are not or they’ve simply never been In Christ. My observation wasn’t just of unbelievers but believers too. How could a Christian enjoy any place other more than they enjoy being In Christ? Or how does one fake “Being In Christ?” It was shocking to me. It was also shocking that a lot of people couldn’t relate to my simple experiences in Christ, the feelings, the realizations, and the truth.

STOP FAKING! I’m begging you if you are faking, stop it. You don’t have to fake it. Screw what this World says about believers. Being in Christ is OUR safety place. It’s our secret spot. It’s our heaven on Earth. How can you fake being here In Spirit? And you really don’t have to fake it, just turn your focus to Jesus and tell Him I want to be In YOU (In Spirit). I want to worship you there! And He will place you there spontaneously! Call His name and it will take you to our secret place.

This is a no judgement zone but sometimes we need to be called out when we are faking it or simply deceived. I want you to know what is real. I want you to experience Him for yourself. I want Him to be your Life, your peace, your joy, your enjoyment!

But then I met a people who knew they weren’t perfect but had no idea that they were sick. I’ve actually met sick Christians who behave as if they don’t know Jesus is the healer.

The same Jesus you read about in the Bible is saying TRY ME! I will LIVE in you. I will guide you. I will be with you always. I will love you and take care of you. I will heal you. I will restore you. I will transform you. Behold I make all things new. I will make you NEW! I will give you a loving family (the church) to support you and build you up In Me. I will give YOU LIFE.

The problem lies in that some people think that once you’re saved that they no longer need any more saving. Yes on one hand we are saved, but we are also being saved RIGHT now and the Lord goes before us and will continue to save us from the Devil and His wicked schemes against us. Needing Jesus isn’t some need that just appears Sunday morning. This is an everyday dosage that’s needed. We NEED Jesus! E V E R Y D A Y!

• We are sick and need to be healed from loving ourselves, things and others MORE than God! #NoIdolsBeforeHim

• We are sick and need to be healed from being prideful, coveting our neighbors possessions, lying (little white lies too), deceiving, always being right, showing fake love, being fake, laziness, living in shame, murdering people in our hearts, backstabbing, chasing money/success/men/women/ etc…

• We are sick and need to be healed and washed from what we’ve said, what we’ve done, what we’ve heard, what we’ve seen etc…

Its ok if you can relate to any of those I’ve written about above. The Lord is waiting with open arms for you. He is a loving God. Be humble and come to Jesus by calling on His name Right where you are! The Lord is the best Doctor and his healing touch is the best cure… for everything!

The Lord said, “It is not the healthy that need a Doctor, it’s the sick. I have not come to call the righteous but the sinners to repentance.” – Luke 5:31-32 Be unashamed to admit you are sick and receive healing from my fave Doctor❤️

Morning Devo – Despite what’s happening in this World, I’ve still been called to go into all the World…! By Sherry Thorpe

I don’t want to get to the end of my earthly life and turn back and say, “well done Sherry, you succeeded in completing all of your goals!” No I want a “well done” from God. I want to please Him. In order for this to happen I practice being In Christ spontaneously by enjoying Him as my Life, so I can be lead to do exactly what God has ordained me to do.

I try to always bring “the process” up to Christians because I want to remind them, myself included, that we are in the process. God will complete the good work He started in us (Phil 1:6) but it isn’t complete yet. Wanna know how I know? Because we still have our fallen nature. In Christ we are more than conquerors (Roman 8:37) but in ourselves we are still fallen. And although we practice being In Christ, we are not always In Him. Some times we are in ourselves in our feelings. If we could just be honest with ourselves to see our imperfections we will see the Lord is still working on us and this is okay. It’s actually good news! Who else would take their time perfecting YOU? His standard is perfect and this perfect standard can only be met In Christ and He is more than willing to bring you to it spontaneously as you spend time with Him.

My number 1 goal is simple and it is to know God. In knowing God, I find out everything I need to know (Matt 6:33) “the rest added to you”, comes after “seeking first His Kingdom and His righteousness“. So first I seek Him and then He reveals Himself, His plans, and my individual purpose in Him. Did you know God wants you to KNOW Him (Hosea 6:6). He wants you to come into the full knowledge of who He is. My prayer for you is simple, it’s a prayer that you may KNOW God for yourself!

How would any of us know anything about God or Know that He wants us to know Him, if no one ever tells us? I have the opportunity to be able to travel often and I’ve visited places because someone mentioned it. I actually didn’t even know some places existed until someone mentioned it to me. Some people have this very small idea that God wants to save them and that’s it BUT He wants to do much more. He wants YOU to be saved into His Kingdom operating in your purpose for the building up of His Church. This takes priority over everything. This is what people mean when they say “God over everything”. But there’s a difference in saying it with our mouths and living it out.

The Lord is merciful so please don’t beat your self up if you’ve put your own interest before Him. Just confess your sins, open yourself to Jesus, so He can wash you clean and build you up in Him. It’s quite simple.

Now as the Lord leads you, tell others about Him in whatever platform He places you in, through speaking, writing a blog, fb post, twitter, in school, at work, at the grocery store, at the gas station, passing out a gospel track- This is going into all the World. You don’t need a passport to tell your coworker(s) or fellow classmate(s) about Jesus. Talking about God should be so normal to believers. After all He is our very foundation and is becoming our very substance. Just let the Lord flow in and out.❤️

Go into all the World and preach the Gospel to all creation” – Mark 16:15

Viva la Mexico en Cancun

Well Cancun was a breathe of fresh air.

Between having multiple clear water beaches to choose from and great tacos what more could a woman like me ask for?

Flights: I flew United (no I was not removed from the plane) however I did volunteer my seat so I could get a free flight voucher in an amount up to $200 for a future date. The plane was not that full so I was able to get on the flight. I paid $124 one way to Cancun and $25 for a checked bag (flying with a carry on $0.00 will work just fine, I had a huge suitcase because I was traveling to Belize from Cancun by bus)

Cancun International Airport: Uber is not allowed to come into the Airport’s property however Uber did not let us know this. The airport representative let us know. You can use one of the taxis or rent a car from the airport or of course use a shuttle if you are staying in one of those beautiful Cancun resorts.

Transportation: Taxis are pretty easy to use just brush up on your espanol because not every taxi driver knows English or even a little English. The bus transportation system runs 24 hours a day

Pillow Time: This was my first time using Air BNB and I wasn’t disappointed. I paid $14/night  for a one bedroom studio apartment. It was small but just the right size for me. I met some girls who used AIR BNB and stayed in a lovely condo for $56/night and it had an juccuzzi on the roof. Both places were extremely clean. If you choose to use Air BNB for a future travel date feel free to click here to create an account and receive $40 off any stay $75.00 or more (this must be the first time you create the account with Air BNB by using my link in order to get the discount).

$56/ per room- Some travel mates stayed at this condo

Here is the picture of the Studio where I stayed:

This studio was like a small hotel room. $14/night for the entire apartment. Cable, wifi, clean up included in cost

Food: I ate a lot of tacos, beans and rice lol. Go figure! Food is super cheap in Cancun. Try some of the more authentic Mom and Pop places for really good Mexican food.

Currency: The currency exchange rate can change based off of where you exchange your money. For example I saw the exchange rate at a bank for 18 pesos to 1 USD and then somewhere else it was 17 pesos to 1 USD. So just be aware, also you can download this app XE Currency so you can keep up with different currency exchange rates. This app actually helped me because some of the Mexicans we encountered tried to rip us off when we paid with US dollars, the change that was provided in pesos was off by a lot. I strongly encourage you to pay in pesos or download the app if paying in USD to ensure you get the correct change.

Tours: I did 2 snorkeling tours, visited Tulum and Isla Mujeres and Playa del Carmen. I purchased a waterproof case for my iPhone and I could take pictures and videos underwater.

Isla Mujeres (Island of women) is a beautiful Island. The water was nice and chilly for the hot summer days. We did a snorkeling tour from this island for $25 USD and it included lunch. The tour guides sell tours on the island so just negotiate the price if you feel it’s too high. There is plenty for you to do to stay occupied on this island. I took a short ferry boat ride from Cancun to the island for $19 usd or $300 pesos.

Ventura Park: This is a water park that has a couple of water slides, zip lining, roller coaster ride, food included, and dolphin adventures (for an extra cost). I paid 24/pp for this park and it was worth it. I paid $11 for a tube and $10 for a locker for my personal items.  Ventura Park web page

The Island of Aloha aka Hawaii

Wakiki Beach

Honolulu is truly a beautiful paradise! I will definitely try to go there at least once a year!

The plane ride from Dallas was 8 hours, this was my first flight over 6 hours. Hawaii has it all from beaches to hiking, volcanoes, great food, and a Walmart lol.

A few interesting facts about Hawaii:

  1. Hawaii has many islands (over 100) and 8 main islands-  Niʻihau, Kauaʻi, Oʻahu, Molokaʻi, Lānaʻi, Kahoʻolawe, Maui, and the Island of Hawaiʻi aka Big Island
  2. Honolulu is the capitol of HI and its located on O’ahu island. IMG_1897
  3. Hawaii is the only US state that is not located in the Americas and is located in Oceania.
  4. ALOHA means hello and if you extend the oooo it means I love you for example Alooooooooooha❤️
  5. Moana is from there lol

Flight- Depending on where you are flying from it may be a long flight so be sure to stay hydrated being the the air is thinner in the skies! The flight attendants came around twice with drinks and each time I would ask for a cup of ice water and a separate cup of ice. I would suck on the ice to keep me hydrated.

Jetlag– Jetlag is a sleep disorder one might get due to traveling from one time zone to the next. Umm however I never adjusted to Hawaii’s time zone which was 5 hours before Dallas, TX, USA😂. I would be up at 5 O’clock in the morning planning my day and in bed by 8pm lol.

Transportation– Honolulu has a very cconsistent bus system so I did not rent a car. If you ride the bus ask for a transfer ticket, the ticket allows an extra trip on the bus as long as it is with the time frame on the ticket ( I believe it’s 2 or maybe 4 hours)

Pillowtime: I stayed in a hostel in Wakiki (the tourist part of the city) for about $35/night. The Hostel was called Wakiki Beach hostel click here. It literally took me 2 minutes to walk to the beach! I stayed in a mixed dorm with men and woman (no children were allowed in my dorm). The dorm had a shared refrigerator, stove, microwave and 3 separate locker to store your things. This hostel served breakfast (peanut butter and jelly sandwiches) lol yummy! And yes I ate it. There were a few commotions in our dorm with one of our dorm mates he was high on drugs. Also the hostel next to us a couple got into a heated argument. This experience was definitely different then my first hostel experience which was really peaceful. Despite the negativity I would still stay there again. Also room service came by and cleaned the bathroom.

Tours- I was visiting Hawaii for a Church conference so the tour was already planned  with a believer who happened to be a tour guide. The tour I chose was the island tour. It consist of hopping in and out of the van while driving around the entire island (which can literally be done in one day). The full day tour cost $95 includes hotel/hostel pick up, lunch/snacks were provided, visit to a macadamia nut farm, Doles’s pineapple plantation, 2 beaches and a tour around O’ahu island!

Here are some photos from the tour:

The first day I toured with the Church group and the second day I toured the city by myself. I visted Pearl Harbor traveling there by bus and went to Wakiki Beach (2 min from the hostel).

Pearl Harbor Historic sites- The museum did not have a main entrance fee. There is an entrance fee if you would like to go on one of the ships (Maybe it was ship/boat? Not sure). However you can save your money and do a free tour and take a short boat ride to the USS Arizona Memorial.

Wakiki Beach is a tourist beach and it was extremely packed with people. The North Shore beach is better if you want to avoid the crowds.

Food: The funny thing about me going to the Dole’s plantation is that I did not eat/taste one pineapple, I know shameful lol. I did however travel to a shrimp plantation and the shrimp was so good, fresh, and tasty. The farm is called Fumis shrimp farm.

Thank you so much for taking the time read my blog. I hope you enjoyed it.
